When I decided it was time to go visit the province of San Juan to take another step in my travel goal, I honestly hadn't done much research on what things I could do there. I knew I was going to be staying quite a while, so I relied on the people I met along the way to guide me on cool places to visit. The only place I knew I had to go to was the famous Ischigualasto Park, because I had seen a few photos about how beautiful it was and luckily in real life it was like that and much more ❤️.
Cuando decidí que era tiempo de ir a visitar la provincia de San Juan para dar un paso más en mi objetivo viajero, honestamente no había investigado mucho sobre qué cosas podría hacer ahí. Sabía que me iba a quedar bastante tiempo, así que confié en que las personas que encontrara en el camino me guiarían sobre lugares geniales para visitar. El único lugar al que yo sabía que tenía que ir obligatoriamente era el famoso Parque Ischigualasto, porque había visto unas pocas fotos sobre lo hermoso que era y por suerte en la vida real fue así y mucho más ❤️.

Like me, many tourists come to the province of San Juan with the idea of visiting this park. Located about 250 km from the capital city, this park is truly the must-see in this area. Luckily, the government of this province understands the benefits of attracting visitors with this and there is a long-distance bus available that takes you there, waits for you to cover everything and then brings you back to the bus terminal. This transfer to the park cost me about 10,000 ARS ($12), a price that seemed appropriate given the length of the trip and all the time the walk would take us: more than 14 hours in total. We left at 7 AM and arrived there at noon on a trip that may have been quite exhausting but the excitement we all had to see this place justified it 😅.
Al igual que yo, muchos turistas llegan a la provincia de San Juan con la idea de visitar este parque. Ubicado a unos 250 km de la ciudad capital, este parque es realmente el imperdible de esta zona. Por suerte, el gobierno de esta provincia entiende los beneficios de atraer visitantes con esto y se encuentra a disposición un colectivo de larga distancia que te acerca hasta allá, espera que lo recorras todo y luego te trae de vuelta a la terminal de colectivos. Este traslado hasta el parque me costó unos 10.000 ARS ($12), un precio que me pareció acorde por lo largo del viaje y todo el tiempo que el paseo nos llevaría: más de 14 horas en total. Salimos a las 7 AM y llegamos allá a horas del mediodía en un viaje que quizás resultó bastante agotador pero las emoción que teníamos todos por conocer este lugar lo justificaba 😅.
Although at first it seemed that the good weather was not going to be with us because of how cloudy it was, fortunately the day turned beautiful just when we arrived. Something to keep in mind when visiting this place is the wind forecast: since the province of San Juan is almost a clay desert, strong and hot winds can ruin your day. That day there was no wind at all so the day looked perfect for the walk ❤️.
Si bien al principio parecía que el buen clima no nos iba a acompañar por lo nublado que estaba, afortunadamente el día se puso hermoso justo cuando llegamos. Algo que hay que tener en cuenta a la hora de visitar este lugar es el pronóstico de vientos: como la provincia de San Juan es casi un desierto de arcillas, los vientos fuertes y cálidos pueden arruinar tu día. Ese día no había nada de viento así que el día pintaba perfecto para el paseo ❤️.
The Ischigualasto National Park has different rates depending on whether you are a foreigner or a resident. For us Argentines, the entrance cost 3500 ARS ($4.5), while for other visitors it was 5000 ARS ($6.5). I think that in the case of this park, for anyone who wants to visit it it is an affordable price so it is worth going to it ❤️.
El Parque Nacional Ischigualasto maneja diferentes tarifas según si sos extranjero o residente. Para nosotros los argentinos, la entrada costaba 3500 ARS ($4.5), mientras que para otros visitantes valía 5000 ARS ($6.5). Creo que en el caso de este parque, para cualquiera que desee visitarlo es un precio económico así que vale la pena acercarse hasta él ❤️.
To visit just a part of the more than 62 thousand hectares that make up this park, it is necessary to do so in a public vehicle managed by the park or also your private car. While we were waiting for the departure time of our internal bus for the ride, we took the opportunity to walk around without going too far. At the entrance of the park, you can already find a panoramic viewpoint with the typical letters to brag about your trip on your social networks. This viewpoint was quite nice and already gave a general overview of what we would find a little further away 😃.
Para recorrer tan solo una parte de las más de 62 mil hectáreas que conforman este parque, es necesario hacerlo en vehiculo que puede ser público administrado por el parque o también tu auto particular. Mientras esperábamos que sea la hora de salida de nuestro micro interno para el paseo, aprovechamos un poco para pasear sin irnos muy lejos. En la entrada del parque, ya se puede encontrar un mirador panorámico con las típicas letras para alardear en tus redes sociales sobre tu viaje. Este mirador era bastante lindo y ya daba un panoráma general sobre lo que nos encontraríamos un poco más allá 😃.
In this area you can also find a restaurant, public baths, a dinosaur museum and also a small fair to buy some souvenirs. One of the things that makes this park famous is the amount of fossil remains found in it, which is why some of its marketing is geared toward dinosaurs. I quite liked that this park serves a little for tourism and a little for further study, so we can all enjoy it ❤️.
En esta zona también se puede encontrar un restaurante, los baños públicos, un museo de dinosaurios y también una pequeña feria para comprar algunos recuerdos. Una de las cuestiones que le da fama a este parque es la cantidad de restos fósiles hallados en él, por lo que un poco de su marketing está orientado a los dinosaurios. Me gustó bastante que este parque sirva un poco para turismo y otro poco para seguir estudiándolo, así todos podemos disfrutar de él ❤️.
When it was time to take our park bus, a guide was waiting to accompany us on the way. I also thought this was great because he was telling us everything we saw around us. After spending a few days in this province, I was already somewhat accustomed to the clay landscapes, but this was much more immense ❤️.
Cuando se hizo la hora de tomar nuestro bus del parque, un guía nos estaba esperando para acompañarnos en el camino. Esto también me parecía genial porque nos fue contando todo lo que veíamos a nuestro alrededor. Después de estar unos cuantos días en esta provincia, ya estaba algo acostumbrada a los paisajes arcillosos, pero esto era muchísimo más inmenso ❤️.
In total, this tour lasted about four hours in which we visited a total route of 40 km with intermediate stops. These stops were five in total, where at each one the guide came down with us to tell us more about what we were contemplating. The first of them and the one that gives you a great snapshot of the beauty of this area is called "Painted Valley" and whoever gave it this name was not wrong at all because it really seems like something created this beautiful on purpose ❤️.
En total, este paseo duró unas cuatro horas en las que visitamos un recorrido total de 40 km con paradas intermedias. Estas paradas fueron cinco en total, en donde en cada una el guía bajaba con nosotros para contarnos más sobre lo que estábamos contemplando. La primera de ellas y la que te da un gran pantallazo de la belleza de esta área se llama "Valle Pintado" y el que le puso este nombre no se equivocó para nada porque de verdad parece algo creado así de lindo a propósito ❤️.
This painted valley landscape was made up of lots of small clay clumps, but what made it unique were its beautiful colors. Among them you could distinguish orange, pink, violet and even green tones. All these minerals formed veins in the mountains that made this place magical, which I would dare to say was one of the most beautiful I saw ❤️.
Este paisaje de valle pintado estaba compuesto por un montón de pequeños cúmulos de arcilla, pero lo que lo hacía único eran sus hermosos colores. Entre ellos se podían distinguir tonos anaranjados, rosados, violetas e incluso verdes. Todos estos minerales formaban vetas en las montañas que volvían mágico a este lugar, que me atrevería a decir que fue uno de los más lindos que ví ❤️.
To protect the terrain in this area, the walk through the front of this landscape is done on wooden walkways. Although it made you want to even climb these little mountains, we should not forget that this is a protected area and I'm glad that it is so because it is preserved intact and majestic. Even though there were several visitors, everyone was very respectful of walking on the walkways, although of course we all wanted to have our photo with that landscape in the background so we took turns posing for the photo 😅.
Para proteger el terreno de esta zona, el paseo por el frente de este paisaje se hace en pasarelas de madera. A pesar de que te daban ganas de incluso escalar estas montañitas, no debíamos olvidar que esta es un área protegida y me alegro que así sea porque se conserva intacta y majestuosa. A pesar de que había varios visitantes, todos éran muy respetuosos con caminar en las pasarelas, aunque por supuesto todos queríamos tener nuestra foto con ese paisaje de fondo así que nos turnabamos para posar para la foto 😅.
Several travelers and I agreed that this landscape was quite reminiscent of that found in the province of Jujuy, in northern Argentina. In that place you can see a mountain also colored by veins but in orange tones, called the Hill of Seven Colors, perhaps a little different from this one in tones but with the same vibes. Either way, each landscape is unique and I loved seeing this one ❤️.
Varios viajeros y yo coincidimos en que este paisaje recordaba bastante al que se encuentra en la provincia de Jujuy, en el norte de Argentina. En ese lugar se puede ver una montaña también coloreada por vetas pero en tonos naranjas, llamado el Cerro de los Siete Colores, quizás un poco diferente a este en tonalidades pero con las mismas vibras. De cualquier forma, cada paisaje es único y me encantó ver este ❤️.
Having materialized my arrival at Ischigualasto Park in the province of San Juan was to feel fulfilled with one of my main objectives on this trip. Being in front of those incredible places moved me so much that I couldn't even believe it, even having them in front of my eyes. This trip was one of the coolest things I did this year and I'm glad I made the most of it. My country Argentina is beautiful, I never get tired of saying it, and I will always be grateful for having the opportunity to get to know it a little better ❤️.
Haber materializado mi llegada al Parque Ischigualasto en la provincia de San Juan fue sentirme realizada con uno de mis principales objetivos en este viaje. Estar frente a esos lugares increíbles me emocionaron tanto que incluso no podía creerlo, aún teniéndolos enfrente de mis ojos. Este viaje fue una de las cosas más geniales que hice este año y me alegra haberlo aprovechado al máximo. Mi país Argentina es hermoso, no me canso y nunca me voy a cansar de decirlo, y siempre voy a estar agradecida por tener la oportunidad de ir a conocerlo un poco más ❤️.

How great that you were able to visit this beautiful park, and how good that there is an excellent service for tourists at a very convenient price. It is incredible that there is no diffusion of tourism, given that everything is so well organized so that tourists can visit these tourist places.

Con lo grande que es no me sorprende que haya que madrugar para salir con tiempo y aprovechar todo lo posible en el peque. Está súper bien lo del transporte, tanto el externo para llegar ahí como el recorrido interno que por lo poco que cuesta me parece súper que un guía les acompañe 4h.
Es una visita súper interesante, los dinosaurios me gustan y es un añadido al paisaje, no puedo evitar imaginarme esas tierras con esos enormes seres por ahí.
Tal como describes lo colorido de las formaciones rocosas, tiene que ser todo un espectáculo de ver. Que bien que lograste tu foto con el increíble paisaje de fondo y nadie atravesado jajajaja.
