One of the things that was clear to me for a couple of months was that this time I wanted to spend my birthday walking somewhere beautiful. I love my special day and getting together with my family and friends to have a good time, but this year I wanted the celebration to be a little different. I believe a lot is the energies that move things behind the scenes, so I wanted to start my 28th in the best of moods, and what better way to do it than while I was out for a walk in one of the coolest places we have near here: the majestic and imposing Iguazú Falls ❣️.
Una de las cosas que tenía en claro desde hace un par de meses era que esta vez quería pasar mi cumpleaños paseando en algún lugar hermoso. Me encanta mi día especial y reunirme con mi familia y amigos a pasar un buen momento, pero este año quería que el festejo sea un poco distinto. Creo mucho es las energías que mueven las cosas detrás de escena, así que deseaba empezar mis 28 con el mejor de los humores, y que mejor que hacerlo mientras estaba de paseo en uno de los lugares más geniales que tenemos cerca de acá: las majestuosas e imponentes Cataratas del Iguazú ❣️.
On June 2 of this year, the only guest on my birthday was my best friend Sofia, my great adventure partner. We planned this trip almost two months in advance, buying plane tickets to Puerto Iguazú, Misiones province at a super affordable price and staying in a hostel near the center . All the tourists who come to the city of Puerto Iguazú are going to visit the Falls, so the city is fully prepared to mobilize and host all visitors 😀.
El 2 de Junio de este año, la única invitada al día de mi cumpleaños fue mi mejor amiga Sofía, mi gran compañera de aventuras. Planeamos este viaje con casi dos meses de anticipación, comprando los pasajes de avión hasta Puerto Iguazú, provincia de Misiones a un precio super económico y nos hospedamos en un hostel cerca del centro. Todos los turistas que llegamos a la ciudad de Puerto Iguazú vamos a visitar las Cataratas, así que la ciudad está completamente preparada para movilizar y alojar a todos los visitantes 😀.
Location of the Iguazú Falls / Ubicación de las Cataratas del Iguazú
The Iguazú Falls, considered a Natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO, are divided between the territories of Argentina and Brazil, 75% and 25% respectively. Both countries have their own National Parks to visit, so, as far as possible, you should spend a day on each side. Although the walk on the Brazilian side only takes about 2 hours, you need to invest the whole day because to get there you have to travel 30 km from Puerto Iguazú with a migration process included. In our case, our MERCOSUR argentine document allows us to go quickly to a neighboring country to spend the day and there is even public transport that takes you from Argentina to the gate of the park in Brazil 😃.
Las Cataratas del Iguazú, consideradas Patrimonio Natural de la Humanidad según la UNESCO, están repartidas entre los territorios de Argentina y Brasil, en un 75 y 25% respectivamente. Ambos países tienen sus propios Parques Nacionales para visitarlas, por lo que, en la medida de lo posible, hay que dedicar un día a cada lado. Si bien el paseo del lado Brasilero solo toma unas 2 horas, se necesita invertir el día completo porque para llegar hasta allí hay que hacer un viaje de 30 km desde Puerto Iguazú con un trámite de migraciones incluído. En nuestro caso, nuestro documento argentino de MERCOSUR nos permite pasar rápidamente hacia país vecino a pasar el día e incluso hay transportes públicos que te llevan desde Argentina hasta la puerta del parque de Brasil 😃.
This entire area is jungle and rains are very frequent, so, based on the forecast, we had to decide which day we would go to each of the parks. We had seen that the day with the least rain was my birthday, so we booked the ticket to the park in Brazil for that day, since the walk would be shorter. It cost us about 3,500 ARS (12 USD approx) and the only way to buy the ticket is with a debit or credit card since they do not accept cash 😖.
Toda esta zona es de selva y son muy frecuentes las lluvias, por lo que, en base al pronóstico, tuvimos que decidir qué día íbamos a cada uno de los parques. Habíamos visto que el día de menos lluvia era el día de mi cumpleaños, así que sacamos la entrada al parque de Brasil para ese día, ya que el paseo sería más corto. Nos costó unos 3500 ARS (12 USD aprox) y la única forma de comprar la entrada es con tarjeta de débito o crédito ya que no aceptan dinero en efectivo 😖.
Once at the park gate, you have to take a bus that takes you to the waterfall area, which is 1km from the entrance. This transport has a frequency of 5 minutes and there are several options of stops to start the tour in the part you prefer. It is advisable to start from the bottom and work your way up to finish at the top of the falls, where the other bus stop is 😃.
Una vez en la puerta de parque, hay que tomar un autobús que te lleva al área de cataratas que dista a 1km de la entrada. Este transporte tiene una frecuencia de 5 minutos y hay varias opciones de paradas para empezar el recorrido en la parte que prefieras. Lo recomendable es empezar desde abajo e ir avanzando para terminar en la parte superior de las cataratas, en donde se encuentra la otra parada de bus 😃.
The most popular saying about this place is that the Brazilian park offers a panoramic view of the falls, while in the Argentine park you are literally on top of them. Visiting both parks will give you unique views, so I recommend not missing any of them. When we finally arrived, we were able to have the first views of what would be one of the most beautiful settings I saw ❣️.
El dicho más popular sobre este lugar es que el parque brasilero ofrece una vista panorámica de las cataratas, mientras en el parque argentino literalmente estas encima de ellas. Visitar los dos parques te darán vistas únicas, así que recomiendo no perderse ninguno de ellos. Cuando al fin llegamos, pudimos tener las primeras vistas de lo que sería uno de los escenarios más hermosos que ví ❣️.
A detail that we had not taken into account is that all the rains of the previous days had not been free for the falls, which were with an extremely high flow. Although I had been in this place a few years ago, in my memory (and in the photos) the water looked white and this time it was completely tinted brown by the earth. Later that day we found out that the flow was 10 times higher than normal, no wonder it all looked so terrifying 😅.
Un detalle que no habíamos tenido en cuenta es que todas las lluvias de los días anteriores no habían sido gratis para las cataratas, quienes estaban con un caudal extremadamente elevado. Si bien yo ya había estado en este lugar hace unos años, en mi recuerdo (y en las fotos) el agua se veía blanca y esta vez estaba completamente teñida de marrón por la tierra. Más tarde ese día nos enteramos que el caudal era 10 veces mayor que lo normal, con razón se veía todo tan terrorífico 😅.
My friend and I had already gone prepared to get wet, so we had pilots and covers for our cell phones. I was completely scared about the possibility of ruining my phone because at one point we literally went under the falls, but luckily it didn't get a bit wet and I was able to have my big birthday baptism. Words cannot describe the feeling I had being there, with all that extraordinary amount of water around. It is as if the universe had given me a bonus for having chosen that destination for my 28th because having been there on that date was something unique ❣️.
Mi amiga y yo ya habíamos ido preparadas para mojarnos, por lo que contábamos con pilotos y fundas para nuestros celulares. Yo estaba completamente asustada por la posibilidad de arruinar mi teléfono porque en un momento literalmente nos metimos abajo de las cataratas, pero por suerte no se mojó ni un poco y yo pude tener mi gran bautismo de cumpleaños. No se puede describir con palabras la sensación que tuve al estar ahí, con toda esa cantidad de agua extraordinaria alrededor. Es como si el universo me hubiese regalado un bonus por haber elegido ese destino para mi 28 porque haber estado allí en esa fecha fue algo único ❣️.
After a while we didn't mind being completely wet from head to toe anymore, we were so euphoric that we wanted to continue seeing everything around us. This park has a large linear walkway in front of the falls, a walkway that goes into one of the cliffs and finally an elevator that takes you to the level of the largest waterfall. Crowning the tour with the top view of the great waterfall is something beautiful (even now as I remember it I have a lump in my throat) 😅.
Después de un rato ya no nos importó estar completamente mojadas de pies a cabeza, estábamos tan eufóricas que queríamos seguir viendo todo alrededor. Este parque cuenta con una gran pasarela lineal enfrente de las cataratas, una pasarela que se adentra a uno de los precipicios y finalmente un ascensor que te pone al nivel de la mayor caída de agua. Coronar el recorrido con la vista superior de la gran catarata es algo hermoso (incluso ahora mientras lo recuerdo se me hace un nudo en la garganta) 😅.
That day was one of the best I had this year and I will never be able to finish thanking Hive for having this possibility, because two years ago doing all these walks so often was something unthinkable for me. I am happy to be able to take advantage of my time in the best way, I like blog work and I do it with pleasure, and then enjoy my effort in beautiful ways like these. Lo puedo imaginar. En el estado Bolivar, aquí en Venezuela hay un parque hermoso, en el que se puede disfrutar de las torrenciales aguas del río Caroní dese la represa. Tuve la oportunidad de ir y dejarme salpicar por esas aguas. Es una experiencia única como dices tú.

Si. Cada país tiene sus atractivos y paisajes hermosos. Venezuela y Argentina tienen mucho que mostrar al turista y a los habitantes. A veces sin más los de afuera los que conocen que nosotros mismos.
