Good morning Wednesday friends of WorldMappin, welcome to another tour with an artistic touch around the city of Buenos Aires, in today's case, one of the museums I have visited the most in life, but it is special because I bring you the story of the day I confirmed my love for Joan Miró. The museum is located in the neighborhood of Palermo, on Libertador Avenue and Figueroa Alcorta. This part of the city is very artistic, bridges, colors, nature, and very close to other places. Recoleta is very close, the fair of Plaza Francia in front, and so, infinite things (and other museums!!) It is a place of great cultural interest.

Buen día miércoles amigos de WorldMappin, bienvenidos a otro recorrido con un toque artístico por la ciudad de Buenos Aires, en el caso de hoy, uno de los museos que más he visitado en la vida, pero es especial porque les traigo la historia del día que confirmé mi amor por Joan Miró. El museo está ubicado en el barrio de Palermo, sobre la Avenida Libertador y Figueroa Alcorta. Esta parte de la ciudad es muy artística, puentes, colores, naturaleza, y mucha cercanía a otros sitios. Recoleta está muy cerca, la feria de Plaza Francia enfrente, y así, infinitas cosas (y otros museos!!) Es un sitio de mucho interés cultural.
Let's get into it a little bit, because the history of Joan Miró is not to be missed and if you don't know it, I have no doubt that you will be surprised by some facts. The first thing I want to tell you is that he is the most “anti-painting” painter that exists. That is why I like to call him in a global way, artist and not simply painter. He had a hard time identifying with surrealism, and was afraid of becoming too repetitive or predictable.

Vamos a adentrarnos un poco, porque la historia de Joan Miró no tiene desperdicio y si no la conoces, no dudo que te sorprenderán algunos datos. Lo primero que quiero decirte es que es el pintor más “antipintura” que existe. Por eso me gusta llamarlo de manera global, artista y no simplemente pintor. A él le costaba mucho identificarse con el surrealismo, y temía volverse muy repetitivo o predecible.

Personally, the first time I saw a work by Joan Miró, I was confused. His style, so simple and yet so complex, threw me off, and I have even discussed the subject a bit with art teachers, until I understood and delved into his creation.

En lo personal, la primera vez que vi una obra de Joan Miró, me quedé confundida. Su estilo tan simple y a la vez tan complejo me descolocó, incluso he discutido un poco del tema con profesoras de arte, hasta comprender y adentrarme en su creación.
Did you know that Miró suffered from anxiety? This led him to experiment more than other artists, and also to create his own language in painting, as he was a lover of nature, the cosmos and simple forms. His work is full of symbolism. But he also experimented with bronze sculptures, engravings and tapestries. He was very versatile. This exhibition was my chance to interact with his different styles and to fall in love with him, it was a real sensory journey.

¿Sabías que Miró sufría ansiedad? Esto lo llevó a experimentar más que otros artistas, y así también crear su propio lenguaje en la pintura, ya que era un amante de la naturaleza, el cosmos y las formas simples. Su obra está llena de simbolismos. Pero también experimentó con esculturas en bronce, grabados y tapices. Era muy versátil. Esta muestra fue mi posibilidad de interactuar con sus distintos estilos y terminar de enamorarme de él, fue un verdadero viaje sensorial.
This exhibition of the Catalan, called “The experience of looking”, was perfectly organized, carefully designed so that each work had its protagonism, from the lighting that highlighted the paintings, to the center where the sculptures were on a somewhat circular platform. The sizes of the sculptures are also surprising, there are very varied. In short, if we can say anything about him, it is that his almost “childish” style was loaded with symbolism. Moons, sun, stars, women. Very close to nature and space, you can notice very quickly how everything is intertwined here.

Esta exposición del catalán, llamada “La experiencia de mirar”, estaba perfectamente organizada, cuidadosamente diseñada para que cada obra tuviera su protagonismo, desde la iluminación que destacaba las pinturas, hasta el centro donde las esculturas estaban en una tarima algo circular. Los tamaños de las mismas también son para sorprenderse, las hay muy variadas. En fin, si algo podemos decir de él es que su estilo casi “infantil” estaba cargado de simbolismos. Lunas, sol, estrellas, mujeres. Muy cercano a la naturaleza y al espacio, puedes notar muy rápidamente como todo se entrecruza aquí.

As surreal as he was primitive, Miró moved in the artistic circles of Paris, but he never stopped visiting his hometown in Catalonia. This undoubtedly influenced his art, being an avant-garde creator, I can't imagine what it meant for him to be in touch with his tranquility. I can notice in the tour a little of all this, an experimental part for children, a tunnel illuminated in blue, and the work he did in honor of his friend Picasso, who curiously finished it the day he died and dedicated this piece to him, which captured me “Woman, bird, star” invites us to remember him in a game of simple and cosmic forms, strengthening the friendship that existed between them.

Tan surreal como primitivo, Miró se movió en los círculos artísticos de París, pero no dejó de visitar su pueblo natal en Cataluña. Esto sin dudas influenció su arte, siendo un creador de vanguardia, no puedo imaginar lo que significaba para él estar en contacto con su tranquilidad. Puedo notar en el recorrido un poco de todo esto, una parte experimental para niños, un túnel iluminado de azul, y la obra que hizo en honor a su amigo Picasso, que curiosamente la termina el día que fallece y le dedica esta pieza, que me capturó “Mujer, pájaro, estrella” nos invita a recordarlo en un juego de formas simples y cósmicas, afianzando la amistad que entre ellos existía.
This free exhibition allowed me to get immersively close to the artist I have questioned the most in my life, and from whom I have learned the most. I spent a long time looking at the works, taking the opportunity to photograph some of them completely, as well as the details of others. His signatures are almost in all the different works, thanks to him I learned that it is not only the technique that defines an artist, but the freedom with which the creative process is approached and it seems to me something to highlight, because look, it is not worth being in so much detail! the creative is much more important.

Esta exposición gratuita me permitió acercarme inmersivamente al artista que más he cuestionado en mi vida, y del que más he aprendido. Estuve mucho tiempo mirando las obras, aprovechando para fotografiar tanto por completo algunas, como los detalles de otras. Sus firmas están casi en todas las obras distintas, gracias a él aprendí que no es solo la técnica lo que define a un artista, sino la libertad con la que se aborda el proceso creativo y me parece algo a destacar ¡pues mira, no vale la pena estar en tanto detalle! lo creativo es mucho más importante.
I also captured some of these phrases on the wall that generally accompany museum themes, and it was great to get to know this subtle side of how I thought and saw some things. And while I won't show you any more photos of the MNBA's stable collection, after finishing this tour, I went to see my all-time favorites. I like that the museum has both traveling exhibitions that last for a certain period of time, as well as its stable collection and the tour ended with an overdose of art.

También capturé algunas de estas frases en la pared que acompañan en general las temáticas de los museos, y me resultó fantástico conocer este lado sutil sobre cómo pensaba y veía algunas cosas. Y aunque no les mostraré más fotos de la colección estable del MNBA, al terminar este recorrido, fui a ver mis preferidas de siempre. Me gusta que el museo tenga tanto exposiciones itinerantes que duran cierto tiempo, como su colección estable y el paseo terminó con una sobredosis de arte.
