Hi everybody!
I recently wrote about the palace of the counts of Bobrinsky in the city of Bogoroditsk.
Today I want to show you its interiors. Furniture, sculpture, paintings of the 18th-19th centuries are presented in the halls of the palace, the interiors of the noble estate of this era are recreated.
The inspection begins from the second floor, where this staircase leads:
I listened to the beginning of the tour, so I can’t say the names of the first two rooms that we looked at! But I photographed these halls:
And this is the Oval Hall:
Initially, this hall was intended for ceremonial receptions and festivities. But in the second half of the 19th century, the dance hall was converted into a nursery:
Room in front of the bedroom:
This room served as a living room. Currently, the interior of the living room of the first quarter of the 19th century with furniture made of Karelian birch and poplar has been created here:
Chandelier:
Bedroom:
In the center of the room is a niche with a bed. On the left is the door to the spiral staircase along which the servants were moving, on the right is the door to the dressing room. There is a bedside table for a night vase. The guide said that few of these bedside tables have survived to this day, and therefore this is a rare museum exhibit:
Cabinet:
This room originally had a dressing room, and under the last owner of the estate, it was converted into a bedroom for the eldest daughters of the owner. Now in this room there is an exposition telling about the life of the estate in the 20th century:
On this tour of the second floor of the palace ended and we went to inspect the first floor.
On the ground floor, four halls are open for inspection.
The first one houses the exposition "We Lived in High Dreams...", dedicated to the charitable activities of the counts and telling about the most prominent representatives of the Bobrinsky family.
This room contains items that belonged to the Bobrinskys. Most of them were donated to the museum by living representatives of the family.
But I photographed only this chair back with beavers. According to the memoirs of contemporaries, in the dining room of the palace there were chairs with backs in the form of the coat of arms of the Bobrinskys. One of these backs miraculously survived. There is no coat of arms on it, but the beavers have been preserved:
The next two rooms are devoted to the activities of Andrei Timofeevich Bolotov, a self-taught scientist, a very versatile person, who, in terms of the scale of his personality and scientific interests, is compared with another outstanding Russian scientist of the 18th century, Mikhail Lomonosov.
(Bolotov's self-portrait)
Andrei Timofeevich devoted a significant part of his life to Bogoroditsk, being the manager of the Bobrinsky estate for more than twenty years. According to his project and with his active participation, the first landscape park in Russia was founded, which, together with the palace, makes up the Bogoroditsky palace and park ensemble.
In these rooms you can see Bolotov's watercolors and learn about his inventions:
The tour of the palace ends in the music hall, where chamber concerts and literary evenings are still held:
After visiting the palace, I went for a walk in the park, but I will write about this next time.
