Cantaura is the town where I was born, where is it located? It is located in the Freites Municipality in the state of Anzoátegui, Venezuela. The history of this terroir where I lived until I was 18 years old is long, just a little bit of it, then it was to go on vacation because my parents lived there.
The story goes that it was born at the time of the conquest, missionaries who were educating the Indians, there were differences between chiefs and formed another group, heading to a higher place where they were. A hill.
At that time the name given in the indigenous language was Chamariapa, with the different translations was Cantaura and so it is registered. Those of us who were born there call ourselves Chamariaperos.

I can say that if I constantly traveled to Cantaura, I only stayed at home with my parents, then my mother alone; I only went to keep company. After that, my mother did not live there anymore, the trips were more retired because the attention of going there was my mother.
This town changed a lot, from 25 years ago to the present, the facilities that date from that date are very deteriorated.
On February 2nd of each year there is a religious and cultural activity in honor of the Virgin of Candelaria. This encouraged me to visit such facilities, which for other reasons I had not detailed them as they are today.
Every year the facade of the church is maintained, it has had people who have not let it fall. It is beautiful, it has always been a very beautiful church. For those of us who were born in Cantaura the faith towards the Virgin of Candelaria is undeniable, it is a wonderful energy.
In these images above shows the float of the Virgin that was being arranged for its transfer on February 2nd to the recreational park, a work of great renown in honor of the Virgin; it can be seen that the fountain that night was not working even though the doors of the church were opening to begin the prelude to the religious feast day.
The spaces of the Municipal Police remain with the same facade as when I was a child. Maintained yes, but without changes in its structure.
The Obelisk of Cantaura, where the celebrations in honor of the Virgin took place, both ecclesiastical and cultural and popular festivities, was filled with so many people in those times that it became too small for the events that were organized there.
Once the doors of the church were opened, we observed the decoration in honor of the moment that was being celebrated and the dress of the Virgin, a majestic costume as she is..

Although it was a very light weekend I was able to return to these sites, the afternoon mass was held in the open spaces of the Recreational Worship Center with the attendance of Cardinal Baltasar Porras, with the symphony orchestra and choir of Cantaura, Anaco, El Tigre and San Tomé. I called this a heavenly gift. Faith intact.
