It was one of those hot summer days when even the statues wanted to be in the shade. The heat is even more pronounced in the big cities because the surfaces paved with concrete have taken their toll. There is no cool breath that a river or a forest can provide. Of course, it's easier in parks, because there's more greenery around... I think that's the reason why I saw so many moveless friends hiding in the shadow of the trees on that warm day in Good Retreat Park in Madrid.
No, I am not talking nonsense here. Just take a look, almost all my still friends found a good spot to avoid the sun's rays. One of them revealed to me the truth about the love-hate relationship with sunscreen products. Their surface can't absorb the cream. It is useless. They are white stone statues and should not sunbathe to preserve their original appearance, so the only option is to hide under those big trees. Of course, we can question this story as it seems a bit silly. I am just saying what I have heard from them... Maybe they invented this thing? One of them even showed itself in full size so maybe there is no fear from the sun.
I also received another rant from them.
The statues have been complaining that it is a real struggle to find some entertainment these days. They can't wait to see someone and talk a bit as the majority of the ladies don't walk here anymore - they prefer the shopping malls and busy streets full of shops, in two words - spend money. Money. Another useless thing for my stone friends. They are happily living without it and showing us that example!
The cousins of the statues from the Good Retreat Park have more activities. Much more people pass there when they want to visit The Royal Palace. I showed some of them here, but the rest of the statues were lazy to walk out from the gallery of my phone. They stayed there, taking a long nap.
Good morning Eurico and Ataulfo!
Finally, I walk out from the shadows, leaving the white stone friends to keep on with their daily life, waiting for people to go close to them and chitchat with them. I went to Plaza de España.
Don Quijote and Sancho Panza are never resting. They are trying to find windmills and fight them. The thing is that nowadays just wind turbines are growing from the Spanish hills. But he is not worried, he is a knight who will continue to seek adventure and dedicate his victories to Dulcinea.
Cervantes was happy with the attitude that his most famous character was showing. However, he was annoyed with those people who came that close to the monument to take photos. Can't they take photos like the rest of the people, from a distance?
For example, one can take photos from the other side of the monument, leaving the main characters to do their work in peace. I was happy with the Allegory of Literature and no tourists around.
The famous Statue of the Bear and the Strawberry Tree is a very frequented sculpture in Madrid. For sure, people try to take photos with them but the little bear is not really interested in that activity. He is focused on his strawberry tree. I just quickly greeted them while approaching the metro station Puerta del Sol.
My paths also brought me to the ladies that were posing in the wall of the Prado Museum. It seems that they are used just to stand still, at least during the day when people can see them. We don't know do they go out of this place when the night comes and seek some adventures with the other artwork in the museum. Everything is possible in the world of sculptures in this city.
I am fascinated by art and within it, sculptures, statues... I like to look at their details, especially the faces and clothing.
What a nice walk I took in Madrid, but without leaving the weather here, because over there they are burning.
Thanks @mipiano ❤️
Hope the weather on the Spanish coast is bearable ;).
Madrid was a bit hot when I visited it and I didn't just stay in the shade as my white stone friends did 😂
Today is hot but not sweltering although for the next few days here they forecast 37 degrees Celsius.... I need a statue to help me out 😂
Hahaha, we will all need that strategy that the statues have 😂
They are cool they are not affected by the heat hahaha
The place you visit is very historical. There are lots of great statues can be found and it is really perfect for traveling activities. Thank you for showing us this beautiful and Paradise-like place. I really enjoyed reading your post. ☺️
Thanks, this city is a place I would always go back to visit :)
I wish I could visit that place also.
Congratulations, your post has been added to Pinmapple! 🎉🥳🍍
Did you know you have your own profile map?
And every post has their own map too!
Want to have your post on the map too?
The statues are beautiful, I was fascinated by them. Marid is a very beautiful city @mipiano
I agree completely, Madrid is a beautiful one!
Wow..a lot of statues...
When you have no one to talk to while walking there, then it's probably better to talk with them haha .. How many do you think are the statues there?
!PIZZA
Hahaha, yeah, and they also like when we talk to them 😁
Hmm, I didn't count, but enough to spend some hours chitchatting 🤣
What you say is true, when the temperatures are very high, the least you want to do is be under the sun's rays, and someone who lives in a hot and sunny city for most of the year tells you.
How many beautiful sculptures are in this place, I appreciate that you have shared these beautiful shots
have a happy start to the weekHello dear friend @mipiano good day
Hi there,
The best thing is to find a nice place under a tree and spend the whole life there in the shade (in the case of the statutes hehe) I walked around, for the whole day so that's why I saw many, at different places ;)
Very cool statues and glad you were able to make conversation with them, haha. Oh the heat is on, oh the shade can be our best friend :) Maybe the ones that are sleeping in your galary will wake up soon.
They like a long siesta haha 😂
Actually, they started to talk to me, so I had no choice but to join the conversation 😂
Nice talking with the statues. 😄😄 Even statues avoid the sun. That was funny. I really had fun reading your post. What a cool place to jave a walk under the trees.
I am glad you had fun, that was to the purpose of this silliness 😉
This made me remember when I was still young and I see statue, I just wonder if they were going to speak or not.. They all look so beautiful and amazing
And? Did those statues talk to you in the end? :D
They were nicely maintained, and in combination with those green parks make a beautiful picture of the city :)
Lol none of them has ever did that in a while. Yeah, they all contributed to the beauty which made me love it so much
I guess they were silent statues you found... Maybe the next ones you see will talk :D
Lol yeah, they were silent. I hope I will get a talking statue very soon
Parece que todas se han pintado de purple and now are posing for Milka chocolate packaging. Así es la vida... 🤷🏻♀️
😂
🤤
Lol
You are very funny for pouring out the mind of the statues. What if that was not what they ment? Lol
Well, the pictures are so beautiful and lovely
They will be fine with it, I am sure 😁
i found it funny that the statues were complaining about the lack of entertainment. It's true that Madrid is a very busy city, and it can be hard to find a quiet place to relax. But I think the statues should be grateful for their peaceful existence. They don't have to worry about money or work or any of the other stresses of modern life. They can just sit there and enjoy the scenery.
I also liked your comparison between the statues and the wind turbines. It's a reminder that even though things change, some things stay the same. Don Quijote is still fighting windmills, and the statues are still standing guard over Madrid.
I think you are absolutely right, the statues should not complain! Who would have a better life than they? Their only "job" is to be still and enjoy the scenery, true! :))
I knew it! That you were talking with the statues ! You know too much 😂😂 be careful some of them don't like you reveal their secrets 🤫🙈🙈🤣🤣
They can come to Hive and complain here to my text 😂
But I think they would like it here 😇 they got an introduction post now hahaha 😁
Jajjajajajaj only if apreciator vote for them 🤭🤭😅
Madrid is a beautiful city and you are a magnificent tour guide.
Statues are one of the forms of art that I like the most, it's incredible how detailed some of them can be. But undoubtedly, the writing that accompanies these images makes the statues even more interesting. I couldn't stop laughing with your lines, it's always a pleasure to read your articles.
Thank you @mipiano for showing us Madrid in such an enjoyable and different way
I am just trying to bring some fun hehe, not really a magnificent tour guide. But because I like to travel and visit new places, I could consider that as a new job haha, if one day I decide that piano is not interesting anymore. Hmm, it is not likely to happen 😂, so just combining the two jobs. :D
I loved my short time in Madrid, never saw this park, I guess you need days to see it all!!
For sure that a few days are needed for Madrid.
That's why I will try to go there over and over again :D
and your trains are far superior to british ones too!

Me alegro que ha sido divertido ;)
I had fun reading your post hahaha. Madrid is really beautiful and I will love to see it someday.
I've always been scared of statues just for no reason😆. I guess you had so much fun chatting with the statues, they look cool😎.
After this post maybe that fear of statues can disappear. They are nice people :D
Yeah!
Oh my, yiu found so many friends for endless chit-chat without worrying will connection run out 🤣
Hahaha, true.
But still managing to have a connection :D
(second storm just passed 😬)
