Reggia di Caserta, not a place but a wonder! (ENG/ESP)

in Worldmappin2 months ago

As I told you in some previous posts this weekend I took a little trip with some friends to a place I totally fell in love with! The palace of Caserta! This magical place is a royal house, an ancient noble villa belonging to the Bourbons of Sicily located in Caserta. Built by the architect Luigi Vanvitelli to demonstrate with architecture and pomp the power of this noble family who wanted a dream villa, something grand that would make all the other families die of envy, in fact they spent very high sums for this villa and the Its construction lasted almost twenty years and was later enlarged and renovated even if it never managed to reach the size of the original project. This villa is a riot of beauty, art, architecture, green spaces and sculptures.

The first thing we find and which is striking for its immensity is the garden, hectares of beautiful garden with statues, fountains, bushes and idyllic places for walking. This garden was the royal park and is inspired by that of Versailles. One of the most beautiful parts of the garden is the Aeolus fountain, a fountain composed of many statues inspired by Greek mythology, the fountain itself is dedicated to the God of the winds, there are other fountains always full of magnificent mythological statues but also monsters and dolphins.

In addition to the fountains there is also a long beautiful waterway, a magnificent waterfall and wooded areas. And if the outside is magnificent, imagine the inside, right from the entrance we are struck by the richness, abundance and triumph of frescoes, statues, fine furniture and architecture. You enter with the royal scalobe, a marble staircase that the nobles used to go to their apartments. There are plenty of magnificent rooms in Baroque style, there is the Palatine Chapel, a chapel which is magnificent with gilded ceilings and places to sit (for beauty not to be used), then there are various rooms and apartments all full of abundant decorations and beauties, a boudoir worthy of Marie Antoinette and the court theatre, unfortunately I was not able to photograph all the rooms, I was so enraptured by the beauty and atmosphere of the place, furthermore the low lights did not allow me to take some photos very well . However, it was a nice visit and the palace is uniquely grandiose, a real jewel and it felt like being in a French court film!
