Good morning Hivers, yesterday I was absent because I had a bit to do but today here I am again, I'll take you to the second part of my journey, you will find the link to the first part at the bottom of this post. After a nice walk and having seen delightful green areas we finally arrived in Montagnana, a hill town in Pistoia, famous for the various village festivals and for its phenomenal Tuscan focaccia, people come from all over the province for this focaccia! Montagnana is a very small and peaceful town, but it has everything you need, a sandwich shop, a bar, a pharmacy, a post office. It is made up of various houses that wind along the slopes and a small church which is located in the center of the town, it is a town of passage here, many people stop here to go to the mountains of Marliana, another town that I love and that I hope to visit again soon. Montagnana has medieval origins and remains a small ancient village typical of the hilly areas of Pistoia.
We visited the whole town, the visit from the large panoramic terrace overlooking the town and with a magnificent view of the houses and mountains was particularly beautiful. Then we visited the church, a medieval church that has undergone various renovations over time, the church is dedicated to Saint Lucia and its bell tower with clock is very beautiful and with a passage that leads to the internal streets of the town, the church is small but graceful with simple icons and statues and frescoes. Then obviously we couldn't help but stop to buy the focaccia and so we also saw the delightful shop that sells food, very rich with cured meats, pasta, wine and desserts and baked goods all from the area. I had a delicious berry tart and my husband obviously had the focaccia!
