Julley Everyone,
A beautiful day and A memorable one too!
Out here in the outskirts of Manali we decided to do something different, a different sort of adventure, At a different type of terrain, a different location. A different world.
Wondering somewhere on the empty terrains of Sethan Village, A village few miles before Hamta. Which was a pass to for crossing the Valleys! The valleys of Kullu and Lahul Spiti. Of that I would be sharing on my upcoming posts.
Just straight to our sight were the peaks of Pir Panjal Himalayan Range. The last ones beyond which another Himalayan Range would begin. The Zanskar one or the Higher ones. The higher Himalayas.
The Begining
It was around 1 PM in the after noor and we were on our expedition to Hamta Pass till the half way point exploring the lands unseen towards the Right of the Pass and Jwara Campsite. A whole different valley which our plan of the the expedition was.
According to our plan in order to reach Chikka and Jwara Campsite firstly we had to reach Sethan which I would say was the most isolated village of the Whole valley hardly consisting anyone staying expect the two houses the guest houses and cafes which were at such isolated hidden location in order to serve the hikers providing them with food and shelter which at such a location was needed.
Here we began somewhere around 5-6 KM from Manali Town towards the Naggar Road on the Left Bank there was a turn turning towards The Hampta Sethan Road. The name of the Village was Prini through which was this mysterious trail towards the village Sethan and Beyond.
The whole road had more than 40 Curves and it was totally a zig zag road which led to the top of the mountain beyond which the whole hike to the Hampta Pass would Start.
There was no such name of this place and the places that used to come between the whole journey of Manali till Sethan and Beyond was only used to distinguish by the curve, such as curve 29 etc. For a while I found it a bit Strange at the first moment but after a while I believed that only remembering the name of the places such as that was only the option which would work at such isolated places like these where the places were truly unnamed.
Before the construction of the Hamta Sethan Road, it used to take more than 8-9 Hours just to reach Sethan Village and it was literally a whole days hike and the first Halt was the Sethan point then followed by the Campsites of Chikka, Jwara, Bhaul Ka Ghera, Sea Goru and the last one Hampta Pass. which led to the way to The other side of the Valley The Lahul and Spiti Region.
Our Expedition for the Day.
All about the Sethan and The Hampta Pass, What our truly point of our todays expedition was to closely capture and explore the mighty infinity rock walls of the Valley. It was a huge chunk of mountain peak all of solid rock over which were the lush green meadows and the trees.
It was the place that most of the people even the ones who visit Hamta Pass misses out as it was just right on the left side of the Chikka Valley.
It was totally a un named peak so calling it the Yosemite of the Himalayas as I got the vibes of the heavenly Yosemite Valley of USA. I thought why no to write about it and share it with you guys as there were the mountain all up of the rocks more than hundreds of feet and at and altitude of more than 3000m above the sea level. It was something that a rock climber would dream off but it was truly a thing that no one would have even thought of.
When I came back from the expedition and did a bit of a research I got to know that just right at the top of this mountain was a Lake the Bhrigu Lake and on to the left at the half way point was the Jogni Waterfall. That too has a different pathway as that to the Brighu Lake which was hiked form the other side of the Mountain from Vashisth Village of Manali and even form the 14 Mor near Gulaba Manali.
Sethan Village.
After driving for more than an hour we finally reached Sethan Village. There were 2-3 houses which were turned into guest houses which were form the travellers who wish to stay at such places.
During winers this place gets covered under a thick blanket of snow and sometimes the snow even passes beyond 3-4 feet blocking the whole road.
So thats all for today guys. I hope you liked it.
Thanks for your precious time. 🙏
Love from the Himalayas.❤️
