There are people that go vegan mainly because they care about their health.
I actually look it up on wikipedia:
Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals. An individual who follows the diet or philosophy is known as a vegan.
And when you follow the philosophy of Veganism that means you cannot use any products that uses any animal products at all. You're telling me you don't have any animal products at all in your place or any of your clothes or personal stuff?
The author stated he went vegan for a day, and this is isn't because he wants to claim that he is a Vegan, it's part of creative writing.
He even added "I can feel that it's the perfect place for your health and wellness." So, clearly his main message to his reader focuses on wellness and health and not the deep principles of veganism or what you so called philosophy.
So, wether you go vegan because of the philosophy or the food diet you are called a Vegan.
Yes I have no animal product in my home I have been Vegan for the last 13 years also you might want to look at the vegan society's page the people who actually invented veganism instead of wiki . I do not wear sheep's wool wool , leather silk ect. I do not use medication that has animal components , I take a lot of time researching products, reading ingredient lists and making sure they were not tested on animals. And Again people do not go Vegan for their health they go plant based, veganiam's main pillar is animal rights not human health. the vegan society defines veganism as follows :
a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.
Here is the complete history
I did not mention this to make myself look perfect( I am not as there are things we cannot avoid sometimes like the animal fat in car tires for example ) - I mentioned this because a Plant based diet is becoming increasingly popular for many valid reasons, but usurping the term vegan once again puts animals in a disadvantage because the truth about their life in slavery, the torture they endure under our rule once again is wiped out in favour of humanity's focus on themselves. I went plant based for animals, before that i was vegitarian since the age of 12 , again for animals so yeah I will point out when their suffering once again is bing slowly hidden from view. And mind you read the response of the author of this piece he actually agrees with me!
