Hello dear friends,

I wanted to share this post yesterday, but unfortunately, in the past few days, I’ve been suffering from a wisdom tooth ache, and yesterday I couldn’t manage to do anything. Anyway, today I want to tell you about a very beautiful and picturesque place located in the municipality of Sinalunga, in the province of Siena, called Farnetella. It's a very interesting place that I’ve had the fortune to discover in these past few days, and it’s also quite close to other fascinating spots I’ve shared here in the community.
This new charming, beautiful village is situated on a hill at 400 meters above sea level in the Valdichiana area, which is surrounded by olive groves and vineyards—a very scenic place.

In fact, as soon as I arrived by car, I was very impressed by its castle, which, as you can see, was rebuilt in the Neo-Gothic style, probably at the beginning of the 20th century. It represents one of the best examples of Neo-Gothic architecture that you can find in Tuscany.
A very particular thing I discovered when I visited this place is that the name of the town, Farnetella, would derive from "Farnia," which is a species of oak tree characterized by much larger leaves that grow abundantly in this area of Tuscany. Probably, this type of tree gave its name to the town.

I was very fascinated by this castle, though I’m not sure if it is open to visitors because it seemed like everything was closed. However, some information I found online said it was open to the public. Anyway, I must say that the village has maintained its medieval imprint, and there are only some traces of the walls that once served as defense for the village.

While walking, I also came across a small church, probably the Church of San Giovanni Battista, and I also discovered that once a year they have an "infiorata" (flower festival). This means that the streets of the village are transformed into carpets of flowers, something that is also done in other parts of Italy and Tuscany.
Continuing my walk, the narrow streets, as usual in these places, were very picturesque, and the buildings around were lovely. I tried to take as many photos as possible to virtually bring you into this beautiful village.

I forgot to mention that this village is close to Sinalunga, a municipality I had already talked about, so it is also easily reachable by car. Unfortunately, I noticed that there are no public transport services that go all the way there.

I hope the photos I shared were interesting. I also hope that you can visit these places someday. See you in my next post, and I wish you all a great day!
