RE: It Smells Like...Amsterdam!

in Worldmappinlast year

No coffee in the coffee shops, that's a head-scratcher. You should have turned them onto some of the marvelous cups of bean you make and they would start carrying the stuff.

It sounds like you are having a wonderful time visiting so many places. Years ago I read the book, Tales from the Secret Annex, what a story of both bravery and harrowing experiences while hiding from the German Army. To think that she was only 13 at the time is quite remarkable.

What a wonderful gift from your son to treat you to such a splendid vacation. The visit with him and his wife has to be very therapeutic. You must know that Arthur is tagging right along, I just hope he was able to keep up, 12,905 is no joke. I'm surprised he didn't whisper in your ear, "Slow down lady."

Thanks for taking us all with you, the pics are fabulous and you sure do have a way with words.

Enjoy the remainder of your stay and if I could make one suggestion, take a few more evening strolls, it sounds like the fresh air is doing you good.

Peace be with you, my friend!

Haha, I think Arthur's been talking to all of us as we're having a rest day today. Yesterday's visit to Den Haag (The Hague) saw me doing just over 10 200 steps!
Yep, we saw a couple of coffeeshops there as well, but nothing like Amsterdam, and no pungent smoky aromas wafting from those windows!

There is a nature reserve about 500 metres from my son's apartment, yet it's only a 5-minute walk to the local shops, same with the train station, which is only a 2-minute ride to the closest city. They were very fortunate to find such a spacious apartment in a tree-lined street.

We're encountering many hazardous staircases here, just like Anne Frank House. Arthur and I watched the TV mini-series called A Small Light which tells the story of Miep Gies, the Dutch lady who risked her life to shelter the Frank family and other Jewish people, very good series.

It gets dark here much later than by us, even though they're already well into autumn.
Evening strolls sound very good, something we cannot do in my home country because of the crime! Terribly sad!

Arthur is telling me I'm talking too much, so I will let you go :):)

Have a great Sunday my friend, and a big hug to Robin!

Sounds like a very convenient area for doing much of what needs to be done and for getting out and about for pleasure.

I'll be looking into that mini-series, it sounds like something Robin and I would totally enjoy.

Big hug right back at sweet Lizzie.
