Hi Everyone,
As Expo 2025 approached in Osaka, we decided to visit the area before all the action begin. Located north of Osaka, Bampaku-kinen-koen Eki (万博記念公園駅) is the special stop that connects everyone to the expo and one of the largest entertainment and shopping destination, ExpoCity (More on this place later! This place deserves its own post). Getting to Bampaku-kinen-koen Eki takes around 1hr from the middle of Osaka city, with a few changes in trains and monorails.
The whole station was very modern with plenty of signage in Japanese and English to guide visitors. There was a mini expo promoting Osaka monorail system allowing kids to take some photos and see how the monorail operates. There were also various displays on how Expo Park was designed, its shape and how everything came together.
Loads of vending machines were ready for visitors next year and we expect them to be millions. The station has been set up ready for Expo 2025 and on the day we visited, there were a boy band performing for fans right in the middle of the station. This station is slightly larger and brighter than all the other stations we’ve been to in particular able to have a mini stage for a performance is a great use of space.
Right outside of the station, you could see a map of the surrounding activities and open space. Turning left is where the path goes towards Expo 2025 or if you want to explore Expocity and all the other activities, I would suggest you need at least 2 days to do everything like we did. You don’t want to rush and miss anything around the area as it is pretty far from town not to mention the transport fees weren’t cheap but it is a place to visit if you have plenty of time in Osaka like we did.
