Some days you just need mud!! Who else's kids gravitate towards mud? Our children are like metal to a magnet, or bee's to a honey pot when it comes to mud, dirt and water. A leisurely stroll up the beach to Moore Park Beach lagoon turned into a mud bath, play fights, castles and slippery slides. Good old fashioned fun where kids actually get dirty.
This is what children do when they are allowed to get dirty😆 building mud castles.
Pretend fishing, fishing rods made from sticks and old tent ropes found washed up on the beach, they tied watermelon and apple to the rope to watch the little fish come and nibble on it.
Can you hear the ocean? Growing up in the bush as a kid and going on family holidays to the ocean, I was always fascinated by the sound of the ocean in the shells, I love being able to bring my childhood memories into my own kids lives.
Oh this is the life. Such joy!
When kids are encouraged to use their imagination and create their own fun it truly is amazing what they come up with and how much better they interact with each other then they do when they are watching television. Driftwood cubby house.
After getting muddy, we found driftwood to float down the lagoon with and wash all the mud away. The tide was going out and having a similar lagoon called Coconut Well near Broome Western Australia, where we are originally from, the kids remembered how much fun it was floating with the tides. After selecting the perfect bit of wood, that was strong and big enough to hold up our different weights, we floated back to the ocean.
The beaches in Queensland often have fallen trees, these always make fun climbing spaces and play areas.
Is this mangrove area? Looks like you had a nice place to rinse after the mud bathing.
How long do you think you'll travel for? Is it just a year out, or a longer term prospect?
Hey there! Yes was lovely clean water to wash off in. There are pockets of mangroves in the area but where we were there were none. We don't have a time limit for travelling, just going with the flow at this stage😊
We have a mangrove region just a little north-west of us and the mud reminded me of that. There a board walk and it's a lovely place to see, but a mosquito's paradise!
Definitely potential for mangroves to grow there, they may have been growing further up the lagoon, this mud patch was fairly close to the ocean.
