RE: Banyan Embankment in Hue, Vietnam

My favourite citrus, they are very fragrant, better than lemon for cooking and making dips!

I discovered calamansi as food in Vietnam only this summer. I found it amazing to add them to hot tea. I felt tea with green unripe calamansi is like tea with lemon + dried orange peel.

We had many classical mandarin trees in western Georgia (country), in our garden as well, when I was a child, but there was no calamansi there. It's something new to me.

I didn't think it could be calamansi... I will ask locals what exactly these trees are. They use them as Tet adornments along with yellow mums - they are everywhere in Hue.

Sort:

I'm pretty sure they are Calamansi/Kalamansi/Calamondin. They're perfect for everything—lemonade, winemaking, sauces, and sour dishes. Or just a mixture of Calamansi and soy sauce with chili slices, including the calamansi skin—mixed as a dip for fried fish or roast pork! Gosh, yum!

The leaves can be used for tea and as a hair conditioner.

You can also rub the fruit on nails to whiten them.

Some use it as deodorant. Haha.

The weather there is similar to the Philippines, so I bet they are Calamansi.
