I'm Fine...

in Comedy Open Mic3 years ago (edited)

When one needs a break from Social Media (addiction) thus hardly posting anywhere at anytime for a long time... It's a tender-hearted thing to pop in occasionally and let some Cyber-friends know that you're not dead...!!! (Whether they care one way or the other...)😏

I guess that, if they're true friends they mostly do care and after breathing a huge sigh of relief, they upvote your post with 100% of their power... Otherwise, what's the sense of checking in with such a well intended post if they're all merely common, cheap bastards...?!?!?!?!?

Oh well... what does it matter anyway? Some of these poor saps vote as if it's their own money they're pulling out of the pocket rather than the pool. These are the type who drop a nickle into an old beggars tin cup, rather than a quarter, like me.

At least with a quarter, an old beggar only needs a few more people to flip a coin into their cup in order for them to afford a Jr. burger at McDonalds...!!! What the hell is a nickle gonna do for em...?!?!?!?!?

ANYWAYzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.........

Now that I've gotten THAT off my chest - how the hell are you? If you're like me, most of your friends and family members are physically or mentally ill, or both.

I'm serious... I only have one family member who's as happy and healthy as me these days. Must be this friggin Covid shit... with those mandatory lockdowns, vaxx passports and stuff like that.

It's driving people nuts...!!!

I was already nuts, so it doesen't effect me much at all.

Did I ever tell you I'm enclined to bake stuff when I'm happy? I've been baking cinnamon buns and buttery pound cakes lately. Here's a picture to prove it:

Here's another one to really prove I can make a cake from scratch that tastes halfway decent; I know how all you 'doubting Thomas' need a lot of proof in order to believe stuff!

That picture was from before I ate it...

One day, I might get motivated enough to share the recipe for you foodie freaks here on the chain. Till then, here's a sampling of ingredients:
Grab some organic flour, eggs, milk, butter, vanilla extract, salt, sugar, honey, baking powder; slap it all together, dump into a greased and floured loaf pan, then bake at 325 to 350 degrees in a pre-heated oven.

Warning...!!! Do NOT attempt to eat the cake before it's fully cooked and still inside the oven.

You'll love yourself for it...

Well, my friends... That's about all I got for now. Hope your healthy and happy; or soon to be that way.

Ciao

I voted this a day or two or however many before I read it because I've been really sucking at reading stuff that requires electricity lately. Now that we are all caught up, no, I knew not of your happy habit.

As long as you're fine, we're disturbed.

Thank you for posting in our COMunity.

Good to see you’re doing well man! That cake looks delicious, would go really well with a little bit of amaretto I think! Not good for us trying to kick the junk food out of our lives, which isn’t related to any stupid New Years resolution crap, don’t waste our time with that nonsense.

We’ve laughed, so many people we know were 110% on board with everything demanded of them and still ended up catching the affliction. What good is all that shit now? Heh

Yes... Amaretto does go well with such a cake; I sometimes add a little to this recipe as additional flavoring😎 Gives it a delightful Italian flare upon the taste buds.

I agree with your junk food accessment, especially the homemade variety from scratch, which is a lot healthier than common store bought crapolla which includes an over abundance of added chemicals.

Thanks for stopping in, buddy...

Oh absolutely the homemade stuff is the best. I forgot to add in there we bought that honey once and loved it! It was from a grocery store around here and I was surprised at the quality, we typically buy from a farm but ran out in the winter and didn't have many farms open. That honey was good stuff!

I should have referred it to sweets instead of junk food! Homemade sweets are top quality but they don't agree with my wife's health issues so we sadly have to stay away (constant allergies and sinus infections) as much as we would love to indulge!

That's a sigh of relief that you are still alive I can now sleep better at night 😁

I'm glad to have put your worries to rest, buddy...😎

The pound cake looks great, it would have gone well as a desert for our homemade chili well the beans were canned beans, and the corn was canned corn, and the broth mix was canned, and we didn't process the ground beef ourselves, nor did we grow the carrots and potatoes, some of my spices are getting old, will need to refresh them soon. The onion was also grown by someone else, the one roma tomato I used was grown in mexico, and I think the red bell pepper was from a greenhouse in canada. I'm not sure where the celery came from, but I know we didn't grow it.

I did chop up the veggies, hand measure out the right amount of spices into my and watched and stirred the pot while every simmered together in nice hot avocado oil and real butter. Oh and I almost forgot I did add a couple packets to the onion, celery, pepper mix to get that nice caramelization done,

I do the broth part, my wife does the meat and corn bread and potatoes and carrots and then she watch everything simmer together. So while not a 100% homemade chili it was certainly better than anything out of a can.

Glad to see your post, and glad you are still around kicking it with the kitties.

Your chile sounds complicated with so many ingredients... I don't blame you for taking the easy way towards it's completion...

Always good to hear from you @bashadow. Thanks for stopping by😎

I like your point of view on a lot of things. How are the eyes and cats holding up? Did your eye recover? This getting old is crap, but we deal with it as it comes. I think I need a bigger screen.

Still blind in that one eye. I was told by military doctors at the time of injury that it might happen down the road.
I've got the visiting strays left. My last little girl died a few months back... Oddly, one of the feral that I'd been helping out since about 2012 disappeared about a year and a half ago (Mr. Reddy) I thought he was dead, but he showed up on my back porch approximately a week ago, looking old and tired... He's got a runny nose and sneezing. Stays in my house now on top of the radiator, keeping warm and sleeping most of the day.100_3197.jpg

I guess we all need a little bit more heat and comfort. At least Mr Reddy knew where to go for a little love and comfort.

Yes, he's always welcome here. I was happy to see him, though wish he'd let me help him even more (clean him up, medicate, maybe take him to a Vet, etc.) but, even after all these years, the little guy won't let me handle him... not even pet him.

Some cats are that way, far to independent of mind. Who knows maybe this time will be different. At least he knows he has a safe harbor.

Come on brother, you can't tease us with the cake, and not dropping the recipe in the next post!
Riots!!!

Glad to see you're doing good, and yes, they all goners, I don't give 2 flying fuuuucks!

Maybe I'll drop the recipe in a post soon, brother... Hope all is well enough with you and the family on the farm.

Funny you should mention... I had a dream about flying fuuuucks just the other day while napping after a workout; woke up feeling like having a smoke...😏

Thanks for popping in.

Funny you should mention

This is the hive mind in action haha. Yeah we're good thanks for asking, hope you're doing well too, not too cold, we all waiting for the recipe haha.

Long time no see, @angryman. Good to see you here. I am afraid I am going to need an exact percentage of how decent that cake is, sincerely yours, Thomas.

Thank you for entering the Comedy Open Mic Contest.

%??? Well... it actually was about 90% of what it could have been - taste wise. I think the flour was a bit rancid or something...!?!?!?!? Kind of a bitter after-taste, but it could have been from that stray kitten jumping into the batter briefly.

I figured I'd contribute to the contest after the post turned out a bit more lighthearted than my usual ranting and raving...😏

Not dead and cake?
Wonders never cease.
Glad you came by, I had been wondering about you.

Life's a lot more fun with cake...😎

I really was beginning to wonder if you had been abducted by space aliens as your photo suggests.

Looking at that cake makes me hungry. The only thing that could make it look better would be a thin layer of frosting drizzled and dried on the top.

No, I escaped by jumping over that rail then hide in the bushes...😎 The cake is what I call a mock butter pound cake (only 1/4 pound butter instead of a whole pound, less eggs and a cup of milk) The drizzle of icing would dress it up, but the taste is great without it.

Nice to hear from you Mr. Ninja...
