Where are you, who will you be with?

Where are you, who will you be with?
I'm looking for you in the shadows of the city,
in every corner where you used to laugh,
but the wind answers with a grey sigh.

The lights flicker in the bitter night,
each streetlight whispers your name as I pass.
My footsteps echo in empty streets,
the memory of your laughter, shadows without peace.

The stars peep out, curious and cold,
while my thoughts search endlessly for you,
and on every corner, on every façade,
your echo resounds, my torn soul.

I look for you in dreams, in whispers of the breeze,
in the murmur of the river that never subsides.
But I find only wings of loneliness
and the reflection of a love that left without mercy.

Where are you, who will you be with?
The moon peeps out, my faithful confidant,
and draws in the sky living promises,
while I here, with my latent sorrow,
I cling to hope, though it is absent.
