"Call 107" - When the Fire Department Visits School

Last week Wednesday, as we were busy rushing around trying to get dinner sorted, our daughter, Katalina, rushed into the kitchen and said," If you need help just call 107 and I'll come to help you." Okay, weird request, but as any parent knows kids come up with these types of things all the time. Especially when it comes to our daughter. She just loves to role play and create things, so I've become so enchanted by it all over the years.

At this point it has become a whole new game and as I'm watching her speed around the house I realize, wait, isn't 107 the telephone number for the Fire Department lol. Here in South Africa we have several numbers that we can contact for different emergencies. That's why it took me a while to make the connection.

At this point I remembered that the Fire Department had been at the school that day and it had such a profound impact on her that she has been 'on duty' almost every day since. She even made a sign and happily announces every time when she is now going off duty hahaahaha.

I just love how kids take an experience that they have enjoyed and take it to heart. I suppose a small part of her wants to be a firefighter one day. Who knows? This also speaks so much to her character. Our daughter is an extremely giving and nurturing person. From a young age she has always been this way.

It's become a bit a inside family joke now and my son and I have even given ourselves emergency numbers as a nicknames. His is 10111 for the police, as he's our little gangster who always seems to know better, and mine is 911, as well, I'm an accident waiting to happen lol. I'm exceptionally good at injuring myself lol.

It's moments like these that make me treasure our little family, and memories like these are the kind that I will cherish for many many years to come. Being with my kids and being able to enjoy all these little moments that we have together brings me so much joy. And every single day I thank the universe for blessing us with these two souls.

Thank you for Reading 😀

With Love Always, Justine.

Excellent the school introduces children to the workforce in variety of formats.

Being involved through schools opens up options to consider from young, many alter as they grow up, very few know from a young age what they really would love to do later in life.

Great to see you joining in writing once again, take care!

Yes, I suppose that is the idea, and I'm happy that she enjoyed it so much. I'm happy to be back at it xxxx
I forgot how much I enjoyed it.
Keep well xxx

Schools used to open so many ideas up to the youth, have not even heard of them doing much of hands on showing like this in ages. Have a wonderful weekend 🤣

oh my gosh, I'm so sorry I missed this!!! We must take the kids when they do the wild fire awareness drive and family fun day in Newlands forest. They normally do it in October. I took Matthew once and he was over the moon! They even get the helicopters involved. It's loads of fun.

That sounds amazing and like so much fun. Hope you are doing well hun xxx Miss your fave terribly.

I miss you too boo! As soon as Zak is done working on the ships we must make a plan to hang out ❤️❤️

Yes, that would be lovely.

That's a very important learning experience, besides they really enjoy it

That's the best part xxx

Fancy meeting you here @jusipassetti!
I can just hear Katalina say that, but it shows what an impression it made on her.
PS from what I remember when we saw you previously, she's also got Ouma's mischievous streak in her.
They grow up way too fast, enjoy your 2 special kiddos🥰

Thank you so much. Yes she does seem to have that mischievous streak in her. We definitely will. Lots of love to you and keep well xxx

Nice one, am glad the girl is happy and has learned some security skills

as you say, they are worthwhile moments.
