Found this one growing out of a hemlock tree in the finger-lakes region of NY state. Taken the summer of 2019.

I assume this is a common mushroom, but i don't know what type it is. Does anyone know?

This same summer I went to a mushroom farm in the area, where they grow shiitake as well as a variety of medicinal mushrooms. The techniques they used to grow throughout their forest was really interesting, i'd love to go on another tour sometime.

As to the mushroom you inquired about, my first thought was this:

AmanitaPantherina.jpg

The spotted cap and ring are something I watch out for hereabouts, as Amanita pantherina is one of the deadliest mushrooms in the world. However, your pic (although it's absolutely impossible to tell from a pic on the internet) seems to have a more yellow color than A. pantherina.

In that case, I dunno.

Don't eat it.

Paul stamets ate a pantherina once and had a crazy trip. Sounded like a nightmare.

The lad is mad. Imma stick to whiskey.

I can imagine the effects of the mushroom permanently changing your brain chemistry.

Here's the description of the patherina experience lol.

Wow Cool growth setup you have going there. What do you do with the turkeytail? My guess on the top mushroom is Amanita flavoconia they are often found around hemlock. Possibly some psychoactive compounds are in them too but probably very weak compared to Amanita muscaria.

I noted that this was a mushroom farm tour. I can't remember the name of the place, if i figure it out i'll add it later.

Yeah I'll probably skip eating this mushroom, psychedelic or not.

I bet they'll be making tinctures with the turkeytail. I knew a guy who ingested those yellow amanitas, and he got no high from it just an upset stomach, pretty dangerous.

agree, looks like one of Amanitas to me. enaf to keep distance from it!

Maybe it has the cure for some obscure disease if studied enough lol.

I love especially this one, very much:

The first one looks like a magical mushroom! I know nothing about mushrooms though, so this is just from an artist's perspective haha. It looks beautiful cos it kinda glows :o
