There are hardly any "conventional" issues that catch my attention or make me think twice. Almost everything these days people say and do seems blatantly unorthodox and of any concern regardless of how infamous things are. People are jumping from one issue to another issue, being very proactive and dedicated in one second then entirely forgetting the next when something new strikes. This hyperactive attention seeking and giving disorder of both the audience/viewers and the performers (of the content providers) are not worthy of any attention at all. Henceforth, I barely write or say anything anywhere at all as it seems an absolute waste of breath, making me become quieter everyday.
However, this one thing that came to my attention, because of the person whom I do admire a little from the context. There was this one comment from him (a prominent actor) became famous (I am just summarizing the phrase) that "Only rich people have mental health issues because they are just unoccupied or overly conscious when they have it all. Poor people are so busy surviving that they have no mental health issues. "That comment, coming from a very progressive and prominent figure, made me rather worried and more skeptical to think... "uhh...so that is how they think!"
It is not about how developed your country is or how educated the generation is, the issues about mental health have always been a taboo and lack of appropriate attention. I often wonder where it has exactly started to go to rack and ruin and why it has always been equally neglected besides the physical health.
If we have taken mental health issues even one-third solemnly and portentously as physical health, there would not have been so many unfortunate deaths, so many ruined hearts, devastated souls. There are these health statistics tricks, when you do not keep a count of something, it is denied of ever happening. Even in the modern era, when mental health is talk of the town, practiced, officially prioritized in work places, schools, yet not manifesting as it was expected. And from my personal experiences with people, psychiatrists, and psychologists, I think regardless of worldwide practice and awareness, we do not really BELIEVE in it. Yes, unfortunately, psychiatrists and psychologists, regardless of their heavy pedagogical experience, there are not few but many who themselves do not entirely believe and take their job with utmost sincerity.
People at least first have to start believing that there is a problem here that requires appropriate, adequate, and precise attention. If people tend to think that these are just a bunch of lazy-ass and incapable coping mechanisms or escapist theories of life, and that they are just some excuses to be in denial, then where will you even start treating something that does not exist?
Accepting the fact is far more necessary then building any awareness about its significance or absence to begin with. Before you, start doing campaign for how to deal with depression, generalized mood disorder, or simple sadness and demotivation of life, people have to fist ACCEPT the fact that-
"these are problems, which medically requires attention at certain point"
Some very common and subtle mental health related terms that implied in disguise of "well intention" can demonstrate the situation are-- Hey, cheer up. It is not as depressing as you are showing.- You know, you are not the only one with problems!- There is nothing called depression, just stop being so laid back and do some fun.- Stop procrastinating and just overthink, this is the reason you cannot do it right while others can. In a nutshell, not only do we have the generalized tendency to 'not to address' the issue, but also if someone does, everyone feels like it is their obligatory duty to demoralize, criticize, and almost shame them.
I often wondered as to
Why we do what we do!
Yes, I understand that perhaps traditionally or culturally it is not very well practiced, but if you think from the compassion point of view that does not add up. Even though we so often keep saying that "the words of the doctors can half heal people" or that "Sound mind, sound health" and all, yet we are contradicting ourselves when it comes time to apply.
And they added another part called "paranoia of privacy breach" by the folk who are certified to treat mental health.
Again guys, not everybody but as unfortunate it is, even my majority experience as friend, as colleague, as sideline person, I have found approximately 70% of the people who receive the treatment are paranoid and who provide treatment are doing the "privacy breaching". Because it is like juicy gossip for them to talk about in a circle hang-out, fun to make fun, judging once condition and all. Why? Because as a provider we do not take the client with the care and significance we should and tend to believe those are just escapism issues or pretense for them.
That is why, it is necessary to actually work on the awareness of making people accept that "there is a problem" instead of "how to solve the problem".
Otherwise, mental health will stay like "a mere luxury" and evidently the treatment and care options are availed and popularized.
And that mental health issues can only occur amidst the rich people, and not an issue for poor people because their life is hard and they do not possess the fleshpots to practice and avail mental health.
And while I am at it, I would like to also address another topic, where the counsellor/psychiatrist has a very strict time reminding alarm, which both I have heard, read, and watched doing by them. After a certain allocated time, when the bell ranges, the provider stops the counselling even when it is actually in the middle of the session.
I mean mental health itself is an extremely sensitive treatment, where anyone barely makes them comfortable to start a conversation. I mean, I do understand that the time value of a provider is necessary to take into account, however, I wanted to know is it really a requisite to pause and leave it like that because the allocated time of a session is finished.
Is there nothing in between for us to adept the closure more efficiently and rather comfortably?
