RE: Kicked in the...

I think there is a rather poetic duality to both infrastructures centralized or decentralized if I am speaking honestly. I think Shakespeare made us feel such things through the quote " A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet." That is in the same lining as the words we all use like that's "sick" is now used in a positive direction whereas the word sick is normally negative.

To me I do believe that it is rather empowering that we as a society have shifted the mental framework of what once was a negative saying to something with a more positive nature.

I agree with you that it is pretty wrong for the centralized spaces to prey on such things for the sake of profits, but I feel that it may still be easier to find genuine connections through those spaces maybe not so much facebook, instagram, or twitter, but more in say discords where more intimate conversations and comradery can be built.

I am deeply intrigued since exploring the hive ecosystem, but I'm also noticing many fundamental flaws. There was an article I have considered publishing, but I am not trying to toss them into the fire so to speak. But people were fearful to upvote a post as it could lead to a backlash by an individual and I have all the screenshots to prove it, but do not choose to publish instead I chose to be empathetic to their thoughts and actually warned a lot of individuals to zero out their upvotes. This is the post.

What took me countless hours to build up was completely neutralized because I chose to unveil an abusive behavior (From 50 something rep to 0 and now I am grinding my way back as he chose to go on a multitude of my posts to downvote) and I don't even believe I did it in a negative way after that I even chose to take a step back. I believe that there are some fundamental changes that need to be considered in this platform for it to evolve, but until then I feel as if many people will just be conforming to a certain group views or thoughts which generate the results. Luckily for me I am okay or sort of in my personal life to where I don't rely on such metrics, but it is disheartening and personally why I am looking on layer 2 applications within hive to support and invest in vs hive itself because I do truly believe in the future applications of it and wish it's success.

I personally first started on this site not even a little over a month and a half ago and original intentions was to try to build a brand as I found this through splinterlands. It has now developed to be a way to challenge myself as reading and writing aren't typically my strengths, and to absorb different viewpoints. Do you truly believe that hive is a meritocracy? As if you focus on a lot of the major post there is normally a circle of individuals that upvote each other vs reaching out to find new content and people. Maybe something systematic in place where the 2nd or future votes have less weight may help this as it pushes people to explore the vast ecosystem to uplift one another. That is what I try to do at least. If not will hive might not formulate to be an oligarchy of sorts? I'm personally grateful for the experience if not I may have overleveraged myself into hive, but I definitely see where this application and many future ones can drive the future of our world to groundbreaking places.

Sort:

I don't go digging for drama, but in my opinion, generally if you have issues with someone, sort it out with them rather than post about it online :D

It has now developed to be a way to challenge myself as reading and writing aren't typically my strengths, and to absorb different viewpoints.

I think this is what more people should be doing in this space, rather than trying to monetize everything. I believe that what is learned here will have far more real-world value than most people will actually get from their earnings on a post.

As if you focus on a lot of the major post there is normally a circle of individuals that upvote each other vs reaching out to find new content and people.

This depends how you look at it. for example, I probably get a fair few votes from the same people, but it is quite widely spread - however, I have also been posting daily here and interacting with the community for very close to 5 years already, so I have built up a following of people who trust me and my content enough to consistently support it. This is part of life too - we all have histories that should follow us to some degree, otherwise "work experience" is useless.

The more the space expands, the wider the support range gets and in time, all kinds of people will be doing all kinds of things - and the second layer apps will have a huge amount of value, underpinned by the first layer of the blockchain.

don't worry too much about up and down votes and instead, just do your thing.

I'm not sure how to do quotes so I can respond to particular statements.
Yeah it is hard to resolve against a wall as I was told to **** off as in my post suggested. That was quite abusive and because of 1 post he chose to downvote many of my comments/post neutralizing countless hours of work.

Yeah I agree, but the money does help to be honest as not everyone is financially secure. For me luckily the growth is far more valuable to me or else I would have just quit and I'm sure behavior like that would have made most people quit. People should be able to disagree with people and call out wrong doings without fear of backlash. When people are afraid to upvote a post due to backlash from an individual that is censorship at it's best. It even lead me to be fearful of them so I asked anyone that cared about my content to upvote to consider changing the percentage to 0 to be safe after hearing that comment from several individuals.

Yeah my main focus is now going to be on layer two now and what type of innovation and process the tokenomics present as I'm probably not going to be vested into hive tokens itself much unless some major fundamental changes occur, but a gradual hp increase will be fine.

Yeah I haven't hence why I have been choosing to comment a lot more vs making post. Because when I make a post it typically feels somewhat draining to me and whenever I get upvotes but no comments feels rather disheartening as I typically value comments far more than upvotes although I am appreciative of them.

Hive uses mark up - to quote you just need to put a > at the start of the sentence and then leave a space for the reply :)

"> like this" without the quotation marks.

like this

I would have just quit and I'm sure behavior like that would have made most people quit.

Not that many really. Some rage quit, most come back. I have takenmany downvotes over the years for months on end at time from very large accounts. As said, best just to get on with life, keep doing what you do, the way you want to do it.

When people are afraid to upvote a post due to backlash from an individual that is censorship at it's best.

don't confuse censorship with income suppression. Hive allows people to say what they want and it is protected by the blockchain - it doesn't mean it comes with earnings though.

Layer two really is where the value will be in the future for content creators, with Splinterlands a good indicator of what is to come on the internet in general.

There is a lot of fun to be had here, just don't take the drama too personally, as people often do it for that exact reaction.

don't confuse censorship with income suppression

But it is censorship though well at least on neoxian's standpoint if it was removed from his layer 2
Also the negative votes makes it harder in terms of your content to be found from my understanding. Luckily for me I am somewhat of a marketer and had the post on several platforms
But still 1 persons downvote that is able to neutralize countless of hours of work by hundreds of other upvotes feels a bit silly.

Yeah I am quite enjoying this deep dive into various layer 2 and different coins/projects on hive.
Are there some projects you'd recommend/miners . I'd of course do my research on each of them just good to hear various people's thoughts.

The layer two interfaces are centralized, the content written to the blockchain is not.

Downvotes don't make it harder to be seen, upvoted make it easier. In general though, it doesn't have a huge effect unless being upvoted into the top of trending or communities.

This is a stakebased system and it is unapologetic of that. It has its pros and cons, but overall, creates a far healthier space for most creators.

I think leofinance is the place to check out for the best advice on layer two as well as other projects.

Thanks for your time and answers I won't take up anymore of your time it was greatly appreciated

you are welcome. You type far faster than I do! :D
