Parasite (2019) Movie Review

in Movies & TV Shows2 years ago

"Parasite" follows the story of the Kim family, who live in a small basement apartment and struggle to make ends meet. They all have different odd jobs to earn a living and are always searching for new opportunities to improve their situation. When their son gets a job as a tutor for the wealthy Park family's daughter, the Kims see a chance to become part of the Park family's lives and improve their social status.

One of the strengths of "Parasite" is its blend of different genres. It's a dark comedy-thriller and a commentary on class and social inequality. It dives into complex themes such as class, social mobility, and the human desire for a better life.

The cinematography and direction in the film are outstanding. Bong Joon-ho uses framing and camera angles to create tension and show the contrast between the lives of the Kims and the Parks. The film's set design is also noteworthy, particularly the use of vertical space to create a sense of power dynamics.

The acting in "Parasite" is superb, with each actor delivering a distinct performance that captures the complexity of their characters. Song Kang-ho, who plays the father of the Kim family, gives an unforgettable performance with a mix of humor, desperation, and ultimately, tragedy.

The tension in the film gradually increases, building up steadily to a shocking and inevitable climax. The film's final act is particularly memorable, and the final scene will leave a lasting impression on viewers.

Overall, "Parasite" is a masterpiece of filmmaking. It's a powerful and thought-provoking film that explores complex themes entertainingly and engagingly. Bong Joon-ho's direction and the outstanding performances of the cast make it a must-see for anyone who loves great cinema.

I heard about it when it came out in 2019 but never watched it. Now I think I'll watch it because I too love 'Cinema'. These subtle things are soo pleasing to see and think about. I was actually looking for a classic to watch after end semester. parasite it is.

Well I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I wanted to see this movie for a while now, I saw it when it won the Oscar but I didn't take it seriously thinking it was a very "meh" movie, my interest came a while ago when I started to see reviews of this movie and most of them were positive, besides I didn't imagine its plot was going to be like this.

It's one of my favorite movies of that year, it's stuck in my mind ever since.
