A few days ago, the 3rd season of Locke and Key premiered, a series that transports us to a world of magic keys, keys that can do anything, even publications in Hive. Nah not that last one, but it would be interesting to see a key with that power. Since I saw the first season of this series, the theme of magic keys caught my attention, but I must admit that I'm a big fan of series with magical environments and sometimes I end up watching any kind of tannery haha.
Hace unos días atrás, se estrenó la 3era temporada de Locke and Key, una serie que nos transporta a un mundo de llaves mágicas, llaves que pueden hacer cualquier cosa, incluso publicaciones en Hive. Nah eso ultimo no, pero sería interesante ver una llave con ese poder. Desde que vi la primera temporada de esta serie, capto toda mi atención el tema de las llaves mágicas, pero debo admitir que soy muy fans de series con entornos mágicos y a veces termino viendo cualquier tenería jaja.

I think one of the things that grabbed me about the show was that it reminded me of old times when I watched Charmed, even though they are not related at all, something about Locke and Key triggered a nice memory and I kept watching the show. If you don't know anything about Locke and Key, the best way to give you a quick and spoiler free review is that the whole series is about the Locke family and how this family is in possession of magic keys that can turn the main characters into ghosts.
Creo que una de las cosas que me atrapo de la serie, fue que me hizo recordar viejos tiempos cuando veía Charmed, aunque no se relacionan en lo absoluto, algo en Locke and Key detono un bonito recuerdo y me quede viendo la serie. Sino conoces nada de Locke and Key, la mejor forma de hacerte una reseña rápida y sin spoilers, es que toda la serie trata de la familia Locke y como esta familia tiene en su poder llaves mágicas que pueden convertir a los protagonistas en fantasmas.

Throughout the series, the magical environment is kept present and that's one of the things I like. It keeps me intrigued to know the magical power that the next key will have and that was one of the elements that kept me watching the series. A lot of the scenes in the series take place in the Locke family mansion, a mansion with an antique feel that gives that mystical touch to the series, as if it were an old series, but it is known that it is not.
There are things that of course I did not like about the series, a fictional example, not to make spoiler, is that one of the protagonists is standing or lying on the floor, waiting for a demon to do an action or vice versa. When those things happen, it looked like a madman talking to the screen and insulting for being so stupid, that without leaving aside the thousands of recklessness that the protagonists do and that end up triggering a series of events that endanger their lives.
Durante toda la serie, el entorno mágico se mantiene presente y es una de las cosas que me gusta. Me mantiene en intriga el saber el poder mágico que tendrá la siguiente llave y ese fue uno de los elementos que me mantuvo atrapado viendo la serie. Mucha de las escenas de la serie, ocurren en la Mansión de la familia Locke, una mansión que un aire antiguo que le da ese toque místico a la serie, como si fuera una serie antigua, pero que se sabe que no lo es.
Hay cosas que por su puesto no me gustaron de la serie, un ejemplo ficticio, para no hacer spoiler, es que uno de los protagonistas se quede parado o tirado en el suelo, esperando que un demonio haga una acción o viceversa. Cuando suceden esas cosas, parecía un loco hablando a la pantalla e insultando por ser tan estúpidos, eso sin dejar de lado los miles de imprudencia que hacen los protagonistas y que terminan desencadenando una serie de acontecimientos que ponen en peligro sus vidas.

But here I come back to honesty, I loved it when those things happened hahaha. Beyond the fact that they were moments where the acting was lousy or where it seemed that the actors didn't know what to do, I had the feeling that things happened that way on purpose, with the objective of lowering the intensity of moments that, for some people, could be stressful. It felt like a Disney horror movie for kids, but with a magical setting for adults. I think that's the best words I can use to describe the series.
Pero aquí vuelvo con la sinceridad, me encantaba que sucedieran esas cosas jajaja. Mas allá de que fueran momentos donde la actuación era pésima o donde parecía que los actores no sabían que hacer, me daba la sensación de que las cosas sucedían de esa manera a propósito, con el objetivo de bajarle intensidad a momentos que, para algunas personas, pudiesen ser estresantes. Pareciera que se tratase de una película de terror de Disney para niños, pero con un entorno mágico para adultos. Creo que es las mejores palabras que puedo utilizar para describir la serie.

There is a lot of action, but action in a particular style. The protagonists are young and inexperienced in life, so we will not see 3 ninja warriors who know how to fight, on the contrary, we will see how they gradually evolve in the series and master the magical powers of each of the keys. Powers that are necessary to master in order to face a series of enemies who also want the power of the keys, but where does this power come from?
Hay mucha acción, pero acción en un estilo en particular. Los protagonistas son jóvenes e inexpertos en la vida, así que no veremos a 3 guerreros ninjas que saben luchar, al contrario, veremos como poco a poco van evolucionando en la serie y dominan los poderes mágicos de cada una de las llaves. Poderes que son necesarios dominar para poder hacerle frente a una serie de enemigos que también desean el poder de las llaves, ¿Pero de donde viene ese poder?

Throughout the series I always found myself intrigued by the keys, how they were created and everything about them. The keys are the center of attention and every episode makes you want to know more. I hadn't thought about it until the moment I find myself writing this, but somehow the series reminded me of the magical experience I had with the movie called the spiderwick chronicles.
I liked the special effects in the series. They are not high budget, to define them in some way, but the quality they have seems to me quite good and if not, when the magic keys are used, it would be a bit boring to see bad special effects and that would surely alienate the audience.
Durante toda la serie siempre me encontraba intrigado por las llaves, como fueron creadas y todo lo relacionado a ellas. Las llaves son el centro de atención y cada capítulo te hace querer saber más. No lo había pensado hasta el momento que me encuentro escribiendo esto, pero de alguna forma la serie me recordó a la experiencia mágica que tuve con la película llamada crónicas de spiderwick.
Los efectos especiales de la serie me gustaron. No son de alto presupuesto, por definirlos de alguna forma, pero la calidad que tienen me parece bastante buenos y de no ser así, al momento de ser utilizadas las llaves mágicas, sería como un poco aburrido ver malos efectos especiales y eso de seguro alejaría a la audiencia.

This series is an adaptation of comics, which even won awards for "Best Comic Book". I have not read any of them, but researching a little, I found interesting things that I would have loved to happen in the series, but that are understood by the budget issue and try to condense the story to a few chapters, change things a little to renew and who knows what else idea by the director, knowing the differences, it does not bother me at all. If I am left in doubt how many keys there are in total, honestly I find very few that are in the series, so in due time I will go read the comics.
That last thing I mentioned, it was a little disappointing, because being the keys the center of attention, at times they went to the background and I was like with anxiety, waiting to know what happened or if the mystery was solved and everything followed its course, while I was looking for something to eat to not die of anxiety hahaha.
Esta serie es una adaptación de comics, que incluso llegaron a ganar premios como mejor "Mejor cómic". No he leído ninguna de ellos, pero investigando un poco, encontré cosas interesantes que me fuese encantado que sucedieran en la serie, pero que se entienden por el tema del presupuesto y tratar de condensar la historia a unos pocos capítulos, cambiar un poco las cosas para renovar y quien sabe que más idea por parte del director, conociendo las diferencias, no me molesta en lo absoluto. Si me quedo en duda cuantas llaves existen en total, honestamente me parecen muy pocas las que están en la serie, así que en su momento iré a leer los comics.
Eso ultimo que menciono, fue un poco decepcionante, porque siendo las llaves el centro de atención, en momentos pasaban como a segundo plano y me quedaba como con ansiedad, esperando saber que pasaba o si se resolvía el misterio y todo seguí su curso, mientras yo buscaba algo de comer para no morir de la ansiedad jajaja.

Locke & Key is a family series, it is entertaining, it is a series that has moments of grace, suspense, romance, all in an environment of magical mysteries that awaken the curiosity to know what the hell is happening and that makes you want to watch one chapter after another. It's not a perfect series, if you are looking for cinematic errors, you will surely find many, but leaving all that aside, it's a series to pass the time and if you are a lover of magical things, then you will watch it without stopping like me.
If I had to give a score to the series, it would be a 7/10. The reason is because I consider that the level of stupidity of the characters is very high, dialogues that only fulfill the function of filler and has stereotypes of characters that I think are already hackneyed throughout the film world, but if we leave aside those things, which are very important, we have a series that offers a healthy entertainment.
Locke & Key es una serie familiar, es entretenida, es una serie que tiene momentos de gracias, suspenso, romance, todo eso en un entorno de misterios mágicos que despiertan la curiosidad de conocer que rayos está sucediendo y que te hace querer ver un capítulo tras otro. No es una serie perfecta, si se buscan errores cinematográficos, de seguro se van a encontrar muchísimos, pero dejando todo eso de lado, es una serie para pasar el momento y si eres amante de cosas mágicas, entonces las veras sin para como yo.
Si tuviera que dar un puntaje a la serie, sería un 7/10. La razón es porque considero que el nivel de estupidez de los personajes es muy alto, diálogos que solo cumplen la función de relleno y cuenta con estereotipos de personajes que creo ya están trillados en todo el mundo cinematográficos, pero si dejamos de lado esas cosas, que son muy importante, tenemos una serie que ofrece un sano entretenimiento.

Wow season 3 already? It seems like it was just yesterday that this series was first recommended to me but it's been over two years. I've only seen the trailer of the first season and it kinda reminded me of Stranger things. The main reason I haven't seen the series yet is because I don't really like fantasy and it looks like it has a lot of that. Well, I just saw the trailer again and it looks better than I remember. I guess I judged this show too quick. Also, from your review it sounds like it's better than I thought. I'll definitely check it out soon enough.

I was surprised when the 3rd season premiered. But it premiered at a time when I was looking for a series to watch. Lock and Key is a series that has fantasy, but it doesn't overdo the fantasy like other series, but it all revolves around magic keys.
Yo estoy viendo la tercera temporada recién y hasta ahora estoy observando más de lo mismo. La serie no es mala, la primera temporada fue bastante buena porque era algo novedoso pero ya la segunda y lo que llevo de la tercera están aprobadas, no más.
Veré como termina porque al haberla cancelado espero que por lo menos la hayan concluido bien. Saludos amigo!
No es una serie mala, es entretenimiento. A mi me encanto el tema de las llaves, las formas que tienen. Pero si que pudo ser la serie del año, por así decirlo, si fuesen explotado el material de los comics con otro enfoque.
Coincido en darle un 7 a esta serie. Yo empecé a verla cuando ya habían salido 2 temporadas y estuvo interesante, pero está tercera temporada ha sido la que menos he disfrutado.
La trama está bastante suave y me parece evidente que es una serie pensaba para un público infantil o familiar. De todas formas puede entretener pero no está cerca de ser de lo mejor que el subgénero de la magia puede ofrecer.
La creatividad con todos los poderes diferentes de las llaves fue excelente pero ya la serie se siente algo desgastada.
Hahahaha if this publishing key thing was true, I'd use it to make good publications that go over $100 in rewards haha.
