Part 4/9:
The film shifts back to Mike, who is simply trying to enjoy his childhood while remaining oblivious to his friend’s demise. The danger lurking in the town begins to surface as the Sheriff and Mike's mother, Samantha, wrestle with reports of contamination in the pond. The townspeople, blind to the true threat, gather for political reasons while Chris, who has recently lost his father in a mining accident, stands defiant against the town’s mayor's plans to develop commercial property on their land.
