Part 3/9:
The soldiers are preparing for war, and although Stubby initially faces rejection, his charm and intelligence soon win over the men, including Sergeant Casburn, who recognizes the dog's potential. During training, Stubby shows remarkable agility and sass, endearing himself to the platoon. Robert even teaches him various tricks to ensure that he isn't sent away.
Their bond deepens, and Stubby officially becomes part of the troop after impressing Colonel McCarty with his salute. The dog is soon more than just a pet; he becomes a valuable companion and troop mascot as they prepare to deploy to France.
