Flamengo’s goal was to stay close to the top of the leaderboard, and they managed to secure their position. However, the past couple of matches were less favorable, resulting in only one point gained from a possible six against Cuiabá and Fortaleza. These results left Flamengo two points adrift of the leaders, Botafogo and Palmeiras. This is commendable, especially in light of the expectations that existed before the international tournament in the United States, where there were concerns that Flamengo's performance would decline drastically—similar to what was seen with Atlético Mineiro.
