After the onions have been sautéed to a golden perfection, we’ll add in two heaping tablespoons of finely chopped garlic. As the garlic browns, prepare the next star ingredient: the salpicão or the sal, which adds a unique crunch to our dish. Make sure to wash it well, clean it up, and chop it into thin strips.
Mixing in the Goodness
Once you've got your salpicão ready, it’s time to toss in a cup of it into the sautéed mixture, allowing it all to cook together. If you don’t have access to salpicão, don't fret—shredded or finely chopped cabbage can serve as a wonderful substitute. It’s important to let this mixture fry for a while to meld the flavors together.
