This long absence prompts critical questions: what was an eagle doing back in the palace during a political dispute? If the eagle was indeed present to support Miriel against Ar-Pharazôn, why did it make no attempt to clarify the misunderstanding that its arrival caused among the people?
The audience observed chaos as individuals shouted, “The eagle chooses Ar-Pharazôn.” The eagle, aware of this misinterpretation, simply turned away and departed. This reaction leaves many bewildered. If the eagle was meant to convey a message of support for Miriel, it completely failed to communicate that intention.
