The asteroid in question is comparable in size to an 18-story building, measuring approximately 55 meters in diameter. For context, this is similar in height to the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy. Initially identified on December 27, 2023, by the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS), the early calculations indicated a small chance—only 1.2%—of the asteroid impacting Earth on December 22, 2032. However, scientists have noted that as new data comes in, the probabilities of impact have not decreased, leading to heightened concern about this object.
