The event was further highlighted by the commissioning of two state-of-the-art laboratories at the Center for Food Technology and Research. Governor Hyacinth Alia performed the inauguration alongside the university's governing council. In his address, Governor Alia called attention to the pressing issue of food inflation in Benue State. He underscored the importance of establishing cottage industries to bolster local food production and address the challenges posed by food shortages. He announced plans for a series of cottage industries to be initiated by the first quarter of the next year, aimed at revitalizing the local economy.
