When the first officer attempted to lift the nose of the aircraft at the calculated V1 speed—a speed derived from erroneous calculations—the plane refused to take flight. As the tail scraped violently along the tarmac, sparks flew, and passengers were seized by panic, enveloped in a haunting red glow.
