A VLAN, or Virtual Local Area Network, is a technology that allows network administrators to create multiple distinct logical networks within a single physical network infrastructure. Imagine a house wired with different colored cables, each representing a unique segment of the network — this is essentially what VLANs achieve by creating isolated networks within the same cabling and switches.
Each VLAN operates separately, allowing for improved management and security while sharing the same physical infrastructure.
