Begin by heating a large skillet over medium-high heat and adding half a tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, toss in half of a finely diced yellow onion and sauté for about 30 seconds. Next, add two pounds of ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula. Season with one teaspoon of salt, black pepper, and garlic powder, and cook until the beef is fully cooked.
After cooking, drain any excess fat from the pan while keeping the heat off. Add a secret ingredient—1/4 cup of real mayonnaise—to the beef mixture. This addition ensures that the sliders remain moist and flavorful.
Assembling the Sliders
While the beef is cooling, shred six ounces of cheddar cheese using a box grater. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a rimmed baking sheet by buttering the bottom.
