Part 2/7:
One of the standout announcements came with the signing of Nick Madrigal to a one-year split contract. Madrigal, a versatile 27-year-old utility player, has shown flashes of talent in the past, particularly as a high-contact hitter and solid defender. Having struggled with injuries during the 2024 season while with the Chicago Cubs, Madrigal had limited opportunities to showcase his abilities, recording no home runs and just 10 RBIs over 51 games. However, the Mets are confident that his potential upside – including outstanding glove work and an excellent eye at the plate, demonstrating one of the lowest strikeout percentages in baseball – makes him a valuable addition.
