Lithium is a relatively simple alkali metal, composed of just three protons within its nucleus. This lightweight structure renders it vital for understanding nuclear processes in the early universe following the Big Bang. Not only is lithium commonplace in batteries and various pharmaceuticals, but it has also played a crucial role in chemical reactions since its formation in the cosmos. However, what we observe today seems to indicate that lithium is present in much lower quantities than predicted based on the Big Bang model.
