The viewing habits of the 1980s were vastly different from today’s binge-watching culture. Back then, we were all synchronized to watch television shows at the same time, leading to a shared experience peppered with the annoyance of commercials. We had to endure every advertisement during live broadcasts, often racing to the bathroom during breaks. The introduction of VCRs brought much-welcomed change but required physical trips to rental stores, where the hunt for a movie could take more time than watching it.
