Perfecting your greeting on a cassette and dealing with the constraints of recording limits led to a laborious communication style. Retrieving messages also meant listening through entire recordings, guessing where to fast forward to the next one. This complexity often made the experience one of frustration rather than convenience.
Floppy Discs and Data Storage
The limitations of floppy discs convey the struggles of data storage. With a typical disc holding only 360 kilobytes, saving information was a painstaking operation. Frequent decisions about which programs to keep and which to delete were common, wasting much of our time.
