Part 1/10:
The Phantom Time Hypothesis: A Dive into Historical Controversy
The world of history is rife with mysteries, but one of the most bizarre and controversial theories sprouted in the 1990s: the Phantom Time Hypothesis. This captivating idea suggests that a significant portion of human history—specifically, 300 years—never actually happened. According to this hypothesis, the early Middle Ages, encompassing the years from around 614 AD to 911 AD, are entirely fabricated. This wild notion was proposed by German historian Heribert Illig, who claimed that notable historical figures, including Holy Roman Emperor Otto III, Pope Sylvester II, and Byzantine Emperor Constantine VII, conspired to alter the calendar and create a fabricated past.
