The Tension Between Intuition and Logic
An interesting observation is that, much like the perplexities of the Sleeping Beauty problem, the numerous philosophical and mathematical musings often clash with common intuition. For instance, in thought experiments involving other outcomes or even dilemmas such as the Monty Hall problem, intuitive beliefs about probability can diverge significantly from mathematically sound conclusions.
As seen with repeated experiments, individuals often find that they wake up in different configurations that lend credibility to the Thirders’ stance over time. Yet, the instinctual pull to view the probabilities as unchanged, given a fair coin, remains strong for many Halfer proponents.
