Part 2/10:
To comprehend Buddhism’s perspective on God, we start with its founder, Siddhartha Gautama, who became known as the Buddha. Born around 563 BCE in what is now Nepal, Siddhartha was raised in a royal environment. His father, a king, sheltered him from suffering, allowing him to live a life of luxury. However, upon encountering four sights—a decrepit old man, a sick person, a dead body, and a wandering monk—Siddhartha was deeply moved and recognized that suffering, aging, and death are universal truths.
