In contrast to many religions, where life's purpose is often oriented toward serving God or fulfilling divine will, Buddhism teaches that life is imbued with suffering, stemming from desires and attachments. The goal of life, therefore, is to transcend this suffering by following the Eightfold Path, which leads to Nirvana—a state free from suffering.
The Eightfold Path: A Guide to Liberation
Buddhism delineates eight practices for personal development:
Right View: Understand the nature of life and suffering.
Right Intention: Cultivate thoughts of kindness and wisdom.
Right Speech: Speak truthfully and compassionately.
Right Action: Live ethically and harmoniously.
Right Livelihood: Engage in work that does not harm others.
