The key ingredient for these banana waffles is ripe bananas. You will need about 2 medium-sized bananas, which is approximately 1 cup when mashed (or 245 grams). If your bananas aren’t ripe enough, a quick hack is to bake them. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C), place the bananas on a baking sheet (still in their peel), and bake for about 10 minutes until they turn blackened. This process softens the texture and makes the bananas sweeter.
Mixing Wet Ingredients
In a separate medium bowl, mash the bananas and add half a cup (120 milliliters) of milk, 1 large egg, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Whisk these together until fully combined.
