For me 300 words - 500 words with pictures is the sweet spot. Breaking it down into areas as well helps with scanning. Honestly not many people sit there and read a full article including when incentives are involved.
To sit there and read an article, write up a good quality comment is about a 15 minute process. Do that over an hour you're looking at 4 maybe 6 if you're lucky like really putting in the time to read and comment worth wild. After that you get about $1 or less it's not really "worth" it from a money stand point but it is worth it for building engagement and community but most people just look at $ value.
Also seems like number of votes has been dropping off as well.
Interesting... It was supposed that during bull markets it goes the other way.
