A few days ago President Trump announced a freeze on foreign aid for 90 days whilst his team review who is getting how much and what the money is for. The United States spends around $50 billion of foreign aid each year and this number excludes military aid which is over and above that figure. In 2023 the figure was $68 billion with 176 countries getting something. Charity should begin at home and no aid should be sent out at these levels. The problem is countries tend to rely on these charity hand outs and will never improve on their own accord.
I thought there were sanctions with Russia so why is there foreign aid going to the "enemy" or is this just all words? This number used to e in the billions but has bee reduced over the years. This figure also does not take into account NGO's that are supported in Russia which ae there to influence US interest like supporting opposition political parties.
The strange part about foreign aid is that even the so called "enemies" are given money which includes Russia and Gaza. They may have given loads of cash to Ukraine and Israel, but they also give to the other camp not in military assistance, but healthcare and other essentials. So much is hidden away funneled through the NGO's and that is the big problem as the spend is off the charts with no accountability. It is not surprising the Democrats are now wriggling in their seats because this is all going to be revealed and they know it will be discovered. Every government should be accountable to it's people and why the Democrats lost their way and were removed from office.
This is why the spending is under review as who would have guessed $50 million for condoms in Gaza and this is tax payers money. It is as though there is no sense and logic being used as this is not the governments money and that of the people and they have lost all reality.
This is just the tip of what is happening however as the spend on NGO's which stands for non government organizations which have sprung up over the last 20 years and are questionable to say the least. They do the work of the government in an around about way and are possibly more effective because of their status being not a government agency.
$3 trillion is the cost being thrown around and this NGO number is over 1 million NGO companies in the US employing 12 million people. This is hidden under the guise of federal assistance programs and I guess what s termed as the swamp. You want to know why there is a border problem and who is funding it as you have to look no further than here. Tis is truly messed up and my guess is you will find the likes of Antifa and BLM in this pile of rotten organizations.
It is no wonder the likes of George Soros received the Freedom medal not that long ago from Biden as he is involved within the NGO set up. $3 trillion is a big deal and why the US debt rises every year and you wonder for what reason other than criminal activity like money laundering.
Why would the US government kill 100 million chickens (is this even true?) that has now created an egg shortage with the prices rising. There are so may things we do not know about and soon will due to the funding being frozen. The good news is many projects will not be funded again and will shut down for good. This was one big gravy train with so many officials involved with so many side lines on he go.
Charity begins at home so why is South Africa who is part of BRICS and anti US receiving military aid and foreign aid worth over $1 billion annually. We all know that this money is not reaching it's intended target and is being diluted via corruption as it passes through the hands.
I mentioned previously in another post last year an American NGO offered to pay for pot hole repairs in South Africa. The Durban City mayor instead of saying thank you wanted to know what was in it for them. He was not grateful enough that someone was fixing his roads for free and wanted extra payments turning 1 pot hole repair R2500 ($125) into 4 x that cost. The NGO at least walked away never to be seen again.

Foreign aid in large part equals influence and propaganda.
USA companies get deals worth millions, just because USA sends money (partly) doesn’t mean it all gets spent on overseas companies.
It also greatly improves odds of USA military bases being allowed to stay where they are.
That all aside, cutting foreign aid won’t put that money back in tax payers pockets even if Trump wasn’t potus, even less likely now.
Yes I understand how this all works and why, but there is a lot that makes no sense and just sees like such a waste. I just wish there was some accountability for how the money is spent and what NGO's do with the money they receive..
While partly true, many of these places don't have important military bases or significant U.S. corporate presence and even if they do, it is as much or more of a benefit to them than to us. While cutting this spending may not immediately put money back into the pocket of taxpayers, it could lead to a reduced future debt/tax burden. Or at least to more money being spent at home.

As for the chickens:
100 million is a pretty wild number. In July of 2024, University of Nebraska reported that about 1.8 million chickens would be culled because of the bird flu epidemic running through domestic chickens and wild birds. This epidemic doesn't just threaten to raise the price of eggs... the virus could 'jump', combine with circulating seasonal flu virus and create a superbug that will infect and kill humans efficiently...much as COVID19 did.

It's a good idea to regard any political statement, from anyone, with a certain amount of skepticism.
Those numbers for foreign aid...I don't have any way (or time) to look into. However, please know that though I love my country, I believe we rarely give money unless there is something in it for us. We are not really that charitable :))
Yes yet the African countries expect to receive funds every year for whatever reason an from Europe as well. There has to be something beneficial in it for whoever is giving the money whether it is political, financial or even a back hand. In Africa the world is fighting Chinese influence and why I see payments happening.
That is the crux of it. Anytime someone gives money to anyone (even a parent to a child) there is the suggestion of a string attached. Foreign aid is a political tool. Just as tariffs are, visa requirements, student exchange, etc. It's all orchestrated. Of course, the givers don't always get a return on their money.
That is a actually a good thing that the new administration is doing. Strange that it lists Ukraine as having US military bases, that wasn't disclosed in the past...

It's always disturbing to see what really happens to see how the money that comes out of our own pocket is spent. I figured most of the condom money would be going in someone else's pocket too.
The last regime, decided they didn't have to answer to the people anymore and not only in the background, but right out to our faces. Questions have been asked, no public answers. You know when you get no answer, it is because something hinky is going on and there is no way they will admit it.
