Foreign aid in large part equals influence and propaganda.
USA companies get deals worth millions, just because USA sends money (partly) doesn’t mean it all gets spent on overseas companies.
It also greatly improves odds of USA military bases being allowed to stay where they are.
That all aside, cutting foreign aid won’t put that money back in tax payers pockets even if Trump wasn’t potus, even less likely now.
Yes I understand how this all works and why, but there is a lot that makes no sense and just sees like such a waste. I just wish there was some accountability for how the money is spent and what NGO's do with the money they receive..
While partly true, many of these places don't have important military bases or significant U.S. corporate presence and even if they do, it is as much or more of a benefit to them than to us. While cutting this spending may not immediately put money back into the pocket of taxpayers, it could lead to a reduced future debt/tax burden. Or at least to more money being spent at home.
