It is a strange mindset, given many of us are descendants of people who arrived in a new country with essentially nothing. Yet convicts in Australia, pioneers moving westward through North America, Vikings landing in Greenland...none of them had a bunch of money to invest! They just showed up every day because if they did not, their children would starve. Surely we can succeed, given all the tools we have to use.

That's a very intersting way of thinking. I agree with you. Nowadays maybe it has become too easy not to show up and still survive :-).
