Since I am a goal-oriented person, I decided to participate, and was is my initial post.
So, my goal is to reach 22500 LEO staked at the end of 2023, which breaks down to 1000 LEO monthly.
The challenge also mentions it is a good idea to post a progress update at the beginning of every month, until the 5th.
I started the year with 10500 LEO staked.
Compared to last year, when the LEO staking goal was a relatively easy target, I wanted to make this goal a little more challenging this year. It appears I succeeded, and even more challenging than I initially wanted.
So, here's what things looked like on April 1st:
After setting my mind at the beginning of the month to not make any LEO purchases in March and see where that brings me, this is the first month where I don't meet the guideline of 1000 LEO staked.
I was 175 LEO short at the beginning of the month, an amount I'll need to recoup in the coming months while keeping pace with the guideline going forward, or just make some bigger investments here and there to get back on track.
On the first of May, I should have 14500 to be on track. The current plan for April is to buy the LEO I am short from March and anything I might be missing in April. I don't want to take the decision to fall behind and catch up later with bigger investments, because that limits my options.
I expect, like in March, that most of the 1000 LEO staked (maybe all this time around) to come from the author and curation rewards, plus the dividends for delegating HP to leo.voter. I've increased my delegation to leo.voter at the beginning of the month, to help with my LEO staking goal.
I also still enjoy a 6k delegation which was awarded to me at the last LPUD and which will probably still last for a bit. This increases my curation rewards (6k represents almost half of my entire LEO stake, so my stake temporarily grew by around 30%). That increased both my curation rewards and the author rewards of the people I voted for (where LEO rewards were distributed).

Yes, it was a good month. The delegation from LPUD helped too, to increase my curation rewards. But I need to step up my game to keep this goal under control.
I have never evaluated my progress in terms of LEO as I earn very little LEO tokens per month.
Everyone has his or her own focus points. One of mine is LEO.
To be successful you have to do it the way you are doing it first set a goal and then work hard day in then achieve goal. Staking is best way to earn some money.
Yes, setting goals and following them through to completion helps, especially goal-oriented people.
I think a lot of people make money from staking. I will try to stake in one of these days to see how it is and how much money I will make
You need to understand how staking works for the token you stake. On Hive (actually Hive-Engine), if we talk about a tribe token like LEO, writing content for that specific tribe and curating with the stake are usually the main ways to get more tokens without buying more. Some tokens distribute dividends or are growth-oriented (they grow their value instead of distributing rewards). You need to make some research before you stake a token, or ask around, to understand what to expect.

Yes. That's true. Adding HBD to savings is the easiest way to earn 20% interest without doing anything else. Do you know how to send your HBD to savings? As a note, the interest may not always remain at 20%. but until it is changed it is fixed at 20%. You might also want to read about the haircut rule (this is something we are quite far away from, and people will start posting when we get closer, most likely).
