The key is to enjoy what you do, create good contents, engage with others. Expecting upvotes to come when you drop your content won't happen instantly. Build your reputation thru genuine interactions & others will eventually notice you :)

And if I may add, build your account HP too. It shows that you are here for the longer term. I'm not sure but I think people like to curate those who are committed to grow in this ecosystem.
ive been here since march but due to our Nigeria economy we have nothing to do than to manage what we earn and that's why I've been somehow low with my HP
