How do you make sure that the money that comes into your house every month is enough?
Surely if you live in a country, one of those that are not developed, as is the case of mine, the monthly salary is very basic. I could even tell you that it is derisory sometimes if you compare it even with yours.
Let's put it in perspective.
The average salary in Cuba is about 4 000 cup (figure rounded to facilitate the calculations). If we take into account that currently $1 usd = 190 cup, we could say that the average salary is $21 usd.
Could you, dear reader, live on $21 usd in your country? Evidently it is impossible, unless you live in another country like mine that aspires at some point to be developed. We are on the road to development.
The perspective between the two worlds is immense everywhere you look. Surviving on that small amount of money is possible (obviously we have not died) but it is not a good life.
If you manage to have a salary higher than that, well congratulations, you are above average, otherwise, I would suffer the whole month even more, because everything becomes more complex. Juggling with the salary is something that every Cuban knows how to do, and in the end, it is not enough.
If you are lucky enough to have a partner who also contributes to the economy of the house, as is my case, then you could earn around $40 usd a month in your house. Also, if there is one thing I have learned, it is that the more money you have, the more you want to spend, and the less you have enough. It is logical, you want to improve and prosper in life.
So let's take as a reference 8 000 cup or about $40 usd as a household budget for the month.
Food
A box of chicken in the Cuban market, in the underground market, costs 9 000 cup. If I buy it, that's the end of the post, that's the end of my household budget for the month, the end.
Obviously this is not possible. Inflation is very high. So we survive by buying minor things and allocating at least 40% of that capital to food. Food, rice and the occasional picadillo or packet of chicken that they give us in a controlled manner.
Electricity
Electricity is not very expensive, only when you go over a certain amount of kw per month, then it is multiplied by a larger number and the expense of money is immense. But in very few cases is that given, you have to have a split or a lot of equipment at home, which usually does not happen in our families, and the one who has it obviously can afford it.
Clothes
Buying a pair of pants costs 3 000 cup and a pair of shoes costs 4 000 cup (not branded). So with the household budget, that's impossible unless you plan for several months.
Internet
Approximately 500 cup is allocated to buy 2 internet data packages for both cell phones at home. Obviously you could not be incommunicado or have these possibilities if it were not for the Internet, so it is to allocate a portion of that budget for it. It is not cheap at all.
Children
Definitely the total budget should be allocated to them if possible. So everything else belongs to them. Cravings, a weekend outing, buying them a gift they crave, pampering them. Children were born to be happy, although they have to be made aware of the situation from an early age, but little by little, after all, without children. If you have the money, get out your accounts and indulge him.
Home budget is a pencil-point task. Luckily, we have the opportunity to have opportunities like HIVE, and so on all over the crypto world. This way we generate extra money that in many cases is much higher than that average salary in our countries. But not everyone knows about it, so providing information to those less computerized is a good idea.
In just a few days in HIVE I already have more than $20 in my wallelt. Although I will leave it all in Hive Power, I already have more money in 1 week than in 1 month of work for an average wage earner.
How to survive the month?
Whatever your budget, you must keep in mind your priorities and what keeps you alive for a whole month. Always try to generate some extra money. Be a Lion, don't let others give you ideas, go out and investigate on your own how to add more money to your wallet.
Do you have enough money?

Countries like Cuba has always been a wonder to me. I mean, as local you mentioned that the average earns $21 but according to data out there, the average Cuban earns $148.738. There are countries where it's data seems to be skewed but it's always intriguing to see it. Perhaps there's just a disparity between income. Even sites like numbeo mentioned that a single person in Havana needs 711.41$ to survive with rent. So to imagine surviving on $40/month with children is definitely though.
Hi, this data that you see is not update. Things has change around here. The average is like I said: $20 usd per month, basic.
You could earn $40 if you have a patner that also work, of course.
This is the basic, a lot of people earn more ($50 per month) and a lot of people earn less.
This is working with the goverment.
If you are a freelancer, or have your own bussines, of course that you will earn a lot more.
Thank you for your comment 😀
Let me know if you have any other question.
Also, let me explain a little more.
4000 cup = $160 usd if the goverment sells you the usd (1 usd = 25 cup)
But the main problem is that they don’t have usd for sell, so, a black market in the street sell the usd in 190 cup = $1 usd.
