62 turbines off Martha’s Vineyard, creating enough electricity to power 400,000 homes

Another wind farm going up.

That is interesting. I am not sure how that will all work out. You would think wind farms are very productive but are they really? It seems like reports are mixed.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yea and from our former discussions, the waste from them just waste space in the junk yard.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

True, but the same happens with panels. And even worse because they are much harder to recycle and carry more toxic components

Wind tends to be more efficient than solar. There are other issues though, like space, costs, visual and sonic pollution... We'll see how that goes

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That's not bad at all! It can almost power my whole hometown.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I am just wondering if it is making good use of space and how this compared to solar.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Definitely takes more space, that's for sure. Also a lot noisier.

But it is more efficient, cleaner and works at night so maybe those factors were more important for their decision

I'm sure this will make a lot of homeowners thrilled with their ocean view....

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That is what Teddy Kennedy already objected to. The old "not in my backyard" syndrome.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I wish I had an ocean view. Its something lacking when you live in the middle of a city.

Now let's just hope they don't get hit by a hurricane or flood.

Let's see how this goes and the environmental impacts it may have. These windmills are not that environmentally friendly by any means.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I don't know but I would assume the wind would just be normal in powering stuff. I don't know if taking advantage of it will have any other environmental impact.

But I do think the turbines used will end up rotting for a long time in a landfill after they are done.

You don't think installing these would cause any environmental impacts? Disrupting fishing grounds? These windmills never leak? Don't kill birds?

My village has 150 homes that's it and the power cuts every single day is insane here.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Are you guys relying on wind power or solar power? Or is it just a standard gas power source?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You mean my village ? We get electricity from grid directly which gets from various sources .

If you are asking about India , Wind power is major , solar comes next and then hydropower . But the current govt is making huge progress in terms of solar power generation .

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

There are many factors to be considered. If you look simply at power output, then wind will almost always beat solar, as it's more efficient.

There is the space issue though, and it's also expensive to manufacture

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Seems there are a great many of the wind farms. I remember when I was out in California there were loads of windmills in Palm Springs. There are also a great many in the midwest. States like Indiana have loads of them.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

There are a few wind mills about 15 minutes away from where I live but they take up quite a bit of land.
